Play.com cancelling pre orders of SE due to no stock? UPDATED

I sent them the email enquiring about my order (above few posts) and they sent me as a responce an email telling me its cancelled!!

This really is getting out of hand now.

I've actually made a point of not emailing them to enquire what's happening with the SE, because I had a horrible suspicion that doing so would lead to them cancelling my order since it was placed well after a number of those people whose have already been cancelled.

Hopefully we all get some sort of statement as to what's happening in the next day or two, so we all know whether those of us who ordered from Play need to get the game from somewhere else.
I'll be rather gutted at missing out on the SE stuff and having to pay for the first DLC, but I'd rather know that was the case beforehand than find out on the day I'm meant to receive the game that it's not coming at all.

I'm not sure which option is better now. Emailing them now appears to read "CANCEL MY PREORDER PLEASE" for some reason, but if I don't email them and it turns out my order has been cancelled, then it'll be too late after release to get the preoreder bonus stuff from somewhere else. And in that case, by the time I realise that they're not sending me anything, the game will already be out like a week or so.

Nope your 100% correct.  You had until 11 January to preorder to get the Signature Edition.

I ordered mine on 15th October.   Almost 3 months before the deadline for the SE.   Up to now my order been placed for 5 months!!    So now a week or so before release they now tell me I wont get one because I sent them a nice email?!!

I dont believe for one minute that Play.com arnt getting any Signature Editions!!

That's weird though, I enquired to them about the Lion of Orlais and Fadespear for SE edition a while back and they didn't cancel my preorder. I'm worried now, EA, BIOWARE, HELP!

Also, like I said, didn't it say on the DA site that Play.com was a recommended retailer for UK orders?

Yes it was.  They also have got the Amulet of Ashes agreement with EA too to bolster their sales.  Which too is advertised on the Bioware DA2 homepage right now.

So how can things be going so wrong to EA's primary seller of the game?!  There are no other threads to this level regarding other UK sellers!!

I'm thinking about cancelling myself and getting a SE from some resellers at amazon.de for double the price... but I also kinda wanna see this mess through till the end...

I'm with you on that, Capain Crash, I can't imagine that play won't get any SEs. Why would they? I believe ths is some major frak-up on the part of some people not grasping the principle of this whole preorder-upgrade-limited-SE thingie.

Because if EA tells people to buy from this company as guranteed for your order and then the company cancels all orders of that game, that's false advertising and it becomes EA fault for the whole issue, because they can't brush it off and say "we can't control retailers" when they are the ones who told everyone to buy from that retailer.

If Play.com hadn't been on the site, I would of ordered from Game or Amazon.

I can only hope thats whats happend.  Human error by someone not understanding properly...

But even if thats the case, Play have really sunk to a new low with customer relations and service!  The treatment I have recieved (like others)  with their correspondence is unbelievable!!

I concur with this.   If it isnt plays fault  (although poor service from Play is in-excusable regardless)  then I expect at the very least an apology from EA.   Someone has messed up horribly and I wont to know who.  Im solely blaming Play at present because Chris correspondance with us suggests Play shouldnt be having stock issues.

I had a look on EA's site and the only version available for xbox360 is the normal version

Moderators don't have any inside info. That's stuff that has to come from corporate folk directly (or through a dev that happens to post here), if they want to comment.

We understand that Kevin dont worry.  Im sure the concerned parties are investigating from the sounds of things, its just a horrible experience for a lot of us!

And yes don't hold your breathe on that one.  As said I had mine pre-ordered for 5 months from mid-October and got an email.

Although they have left it so late its shocking!!

Oh, it's definately still a problem with Play.com too. Their treatment of customers and inherent lack of care about the whole thing is completely unwarranted and apalling. However, EA's own handling of this entire thing is non-existant, which is equally unacceptable. If Play.com shouldn't be having stock problems but claiming they are, then EA should step in and say "wooh, hey, we have plenty of stock Play, leave the pre-orders alone". It's not like we're complaining about prices or what DLC is being given, our whole orders are being cancelled for apparantno reason.
