Play.com cancelling pre orders of SE due to no stock? UPDATED

If the only difference between signature edition and normal version are the signature edition has extra codes boxed inside with the disc then i really fail to see how they can justify saying we have none instock arguement.

Shudders to think how many MS points i'll have to shell out for dlcs :sick:

Its more the principal for me at any rate.   I had it there for such a long time and to hear people who ordered days before the offer was due to expire still have it listed as arriving makes me even more annoyed.  No offense to you guys and girls of course.

Well I have a slight fetish for things that come in any sort of special casing, sometimes I buy CE editions of games soley because I love the case [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/whistling.png[/smilie].

But yes, it's more to the fact that, I ordered the edition before the deadline and I'm not, for no reasonable, correct reason getting my copy. And like you said, we were given no chance to order the same edition from some one else.

Though I ordered my PC edition 1 day before the dead line, I also ordered a PS3 edition in November. The only reason I ordered so late was because I was unsure wheather my gaming rig was going to be built in time, it was, so I cancelled my PS3 order.

I'm pretty sure they werent allowed to order it at all, I ordered some other games and on my order history at the time i was sure i read no more orders are being taken for signature ed, the normal versions available to order. this was in big red letters and at that time my order was still listed as pre-order. This was january and possibly even before that.
So someone somewhere ****ed up.

Wow, this is pretty messed up. I'm on PC, and I cancelled my Play.com SE edition because Amazon.co.uk were selling it for £5 cheaper. I'm sorry for everyone who's been cancelled on, I'd be spitting feathers right now if I were in your position.

Play.com in general has gone downhill from about 2006. I used to get albums from them before the official release date their delivery was so good. More often than not, I usually have to wait longer than I would for an Amazon package. Poor form on their part.

Everyone who's been cancelled, keep your cancellation emails. Bioware said you'll get a free upgrade if you order before the cutoff, which you did. Therefore, even though you don't get the shiny tin, by Bioware's terms you should be entitled to the DLC content.

I didn't order my SE from play.com but after hearing about all this I'll avoid using them in future. I hope you all get this sorted out, if it happened to me I'd be really pissed off :/

Luckily mine's not been cancelled (i'm sure i've checked at least 20 times) but this is a bad show from play. they've never let me down before, in fact i got a few games the day before they came out.

This is exactly what they did to me, pm chris like i did see what he says about it. Its just appauling that they use a simple enquiry as an excuse to cancell peoples orders.

Wow. That is awful *offers internet cookies* :(

There must be some horrible misunderstanding with the SE at Play. Instead of "orders end in January, ship in March" they must have "orders end in January, discontinue item".

Well then, I guess I'll be taking a look at Game or Gamestation in the UK the next time I pre-order something.

I know!!  Whats worse was I actually defended them in my original email and was showing points of concern from a long term and apparently "valued" customer.  To have my order cancelled was an insult. But to email that reply to me...  I dont even know how to describe it!   Its lower then a spit in the face!  No descent human being does that!

My contact at EA UK has responded but he can't check anything until Monday/Tuesday (not at work etc etc). I'll keep you informed if I hear anything back but I would assume it will all kick off tomorrow when everyone goes back to work.

is it still 360/PC versions getting cancelled or have PS3 ones now been included?

So far its only the 360/PCs.   Nobody has mentioned PS3 falures as of yet in this thread.  Please post if you have though!


Really appreciative your helping us all out GulfWarVet, Its great to have some more support and nice to have someone who can help us get to the bottom of this.  As you say its going to be the start of the working week when we will start to hopefully get some answers.

right so play have been cancelling pc/360 versions, while amazon.co.uk is only selling the american SE for ps3? lol. this is the most messed up launch for a promo i have ever seen.

Selling a different version based on pre-order date and then discontinuing that version before it's even released was a horrible idea... all to milk an extra $7 out of everyone else on day one. I hope they learn from the headaches this has caused for people who just want to play the full version of the game.

I may be being a pessamist, but i doubt it will. But somethings gone wrong somewhere and i dont think play seem ot understand the concept of the special offer. Talking to them on the phone they were just like "the item is discontinued its not on our website so we cant fulfill the order"
