Play.com cancelling pre orders of SE due to no stock? UPDATED

rule # 1 dont outsource to people who have no clue about how special editions (promotional offers) work.

Hmm, i've heard nothing from GAME about my order being cancelled, and since I ordered in October i'm hoping it'll be fine, but Sefearion's horror story has me pondering buying the PS3 version too.

At the very least I then get to play the game on release, rather than finding out they couldn't fulfill the order and then being unable to play til I re-order.

Nah, probobly not a good idea. GAME is *usually* reliable and I got my order in early. I also ordered the SE specially since at that time due to mistake they were listed as Se and Normal version, even though Normal versions were later ugraded.

I'll let things progress naturally. If worst comes to worst I'll just pick it up off Steam.

Out of interest, any news from GAME at all?

Yeah, way too late for that.  EVERYONE has outsourced to India.  Sad thing is, by law they must connect you to a person in your home country if you ask, however they tend to refuse to do so, and really even though it's not legal, there's not much you can do when they refuse, as it would require a lawsuit, and they know people arne't going to dish out lawyer fees to sue them over such a thing.

i wouldnt worry Alixen. So far (primarly) its Play.com's mess up...

I havent seen many complaints about other stores. Also is you ordered early, youd have nothing really to worry about. UNLESS you ordered at play.com.

I contacted them.  Got an answer machine, so I left message and I also E-mailed em. I'm not going to exert any more effort than that because as far as I'm concerned I shouldn't have to.

My cup of rage has spilled everywhere.

I'm getting the impression now that no one reads. The point is they havent run out of stock. On the play website the SE is listed as out of stock because it was only available for a limited period and that period has now ended. The staff who deal with calls and emails didnt understand this offer, just see the out of stock listing on the website and say that the orders cant be fulfilled because the item is out of stock, when it actually isnt.

As i said 3 times 2 in this post, the issue is on its way to being fixed and those who had their orders can contact me for contact info of the lady who is trying to fix it for us.

pay peanuts employ monkies. Its an old saying but outsourcing abroad has never been a good deal for the customer, only the company.

They save thousands on wages and we have to live with the language issue and the costly calls.

My iold firms IT support went to India, they gave them all english names to use when they answered!!

its not just them, i did a pre-order from game stop a wile back and told i was going to get the SE and today i went in to pay a bit more on it. and they told me it was not the se just the reg one becase they had sold out of the se ones after i had pre ordered mine. so now i am sol

I pre-ordered from game in October too, and my Sig edition preorder is still there.  I haven't heard anything from them to suggest there is a problem.

Now that my SE looks to be actually safe and I'll be getting all the preorder DLCs goodies...


....I can go back to complaining that I'm getting too many DLC goodies :P

Well, I called my local Gamestop and he explained that lately what EA has been doing is that the first week all they send out is the SE, so he assured me that I will get my SE, and that you should also.  So, you might contact a manager at your store to verify what my store told me is the case for you also.

I read whole thread - good laugh etc really. Irony I pre-ordered on 9/1/2011 pc version and my shop verified it for me since i forgot to accept in my email. Now I think this game gonna blow compared to DA;O so I didn't care that much and you guys here are putting so much effort in it like life depended on it.

Heh UK, anyways Sefearion is it me or did I pay more attention to what peopel post here. PM that goddamn Elerina or something, cause she got address of CEO that can resort the problem.

If you got it cancelled by Play.com you just officially got lucky. My last 3 preorders with them have all been nearly a week late. For example Killzone 3 was released last Friday, and i still havent got it. Preordered about last November!

At least you'll be ablt to play DA 2 when its out this way!

Wrote an email to Elerrina_7's contact person yesterday asking about my cancelled order, and just received a reply:

I can confirm you will be receiving your order of Dragon Age 2, the order status will change shortly on the account.

Good news :) Only now I'll have two copies of the game, as I ordered a Mac download after cancellation. Damn my impatience!
