So did play.com just say that their going to give you the regular game then because if so many people had this problem and just had to live with the regular copy, then I suspect that play.com didnt really care on their order limit and just wanted money.

Totally EA's fault.

It's all about DLC just like it was for ME2's PS3 release.

The hate for EA is strong in this one.

Im not EA's biggest fan but the blame is with Play.com here. There arn't threads constantly poping up regarding other game retailers and their cancelling of pre-orders.

I feel your pain Elerrina_7 i ordered my sig ed soon as it was announced last october.
Then 2 days ago i enquired to what date they would be getting the sig ed at only to get the following standard BS reply

===============================================================
We are sorry that we have been unable to complete your order.

Unfortunately this item was only available in limited quantities and all
stock has now been sold. As it is unlikely that we will be able to offer
the item again in the near future we have cancelled the order.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused you
and thank you for your patience and valued custom.

Kind Regards,

Customer Support Team
Play.com
=======================================================================
Their levels of incompetance have left me angry and i'd advise all other people that ordered their sig ed from play.com to check their email just incase they let you down as well -.-

lookslike i'll be heading to my local GAME or some other high street store to pick up my copy.

If play.com couldnt fill peoples orders then they had no right to advertise that they were getting sig ed ?
The whole thing's left a very nasty taste in my mouth and as a result i wont be using play.com ever again.
Thinking about it i'm beginning to wonder if the sig ed was ever going to be available for UK/European customers at all, Infact i'm thinking that the whole sig ed was a publicity stunt to get those precious pre - orders in advance.

TLDR: The whole things a excercise in getting people to fork out for the extra features ( i blame EA )

Nice job, EA!

Its more of the retailers fault. EA does publish the game but, play.com has a reputation on screwing up orders. I've seen like 6 threads like this and they were all about play.com

are you saying that play.com did successfully order the SEdition within the limit, but EA werent doing their job and just looked at the money that they got? That is believable. They advertise to order it to get money right a way, but then just give you a regular copy ending up to pay for the dlc anyways. The retailers do play their role in this though

There is one not too far back about Amazon UK doing the same.

How it should work is this. Play sends EA a total of order made before cut off date. - EA sends them copies.

What EA is doing in holding back making sig edition copies because they know full well they can cash in on DLC just like with DA1 and ME2.

The only difference is a code and printed bit of cardboard so I have zero sympathy for EA on this.

All retailers will have a disclaimer like while stocks last. Caveat emptor.

I ordered at the begining of december. Either way thats before the deadline and if they didnt have the available stock they should have removed the offer from their site and stopped taking orders.

With every thread like this i read, i get more and more worried that when i take my receipt into GAME on the morning of March 11, they're going to not have a Signature Edition for me.

I sent their customer services an email asking for an outline on the store policy in regards to said Signature Edition, but am yet to hear back.

At that point in time there would be no "stock". Unless they were given an allocation, like sometimes happens with consoles. But it's a lot more difficult to build a console than run off a few extra copies of a game.

Seriously, Play need to get their act together.

EA does know how many people order the SEdition. They propbably didnt try to hard to get everyones copy because it makes the retailers look bad and not them, plus you just end up paying more money on dlc. Which by the way their is a lot of dlc. The game isnt even out. But then again I've only seen problems with orders coming from play.com

but noes they couldnt even get that right >.<

I'm expecting to shell out now for black emporium and the DLC character - which will sadly push up the cost of the original game even further =/

Also if you happen to look at the extras section on the demo then you'll not be too suprised to find a slew of micro - transactional items :(  expect something like ' cerebus network ' where you have to spend some points before you can see any buyable items.

I have the same problem. I placed a preorder on buy.com and they canceled it on me. So now my hope is that I can find a SE edition at walmart or target on release day.

I just sent an email to play asking them to confirm my order.  Never thought I would have to do that.  Hopefully they put my mind at ease.

To me I am quite upset by all this. I been a customer with them for seven years and have always held them in a very high regard.  I recommended them to a great number of people due to the top service I have received in the past.    It really has frustrated me that I had to send them an email and I feel really bad for all you guys and girls who have had their order cancelled.  I expected better from them and this is a really bad dint on their reputation.

:(

Play can't send you what they don't have. And if they only had a closing date and not an allocation , then EA should have filled all orders made before that date.

Those who preordered with play, what date did you preorder?

I ordered on 8 November 2010.

It was cancelled (without notification) on 2 Febuary 2011. I also got the same mail as H1natachan, but only after I noticed on 13 Feb and wrote to ask what happened.

BobSmith, I really don't understand how you can even attempt to blame this one on EA. While they obviously do have severe shortcomings, it is the responsibility of the retailer to ensure that they only take orders that they can fill. It is extremely shoddy business practice and if it happened to me in all honesty I would be tempted to make a complaint to trading standards. Even if they can't do anything about it the complaint will be filed away and a sufficient number of complaints may result in action from TS.

Well I dont think 100% of Signature Editions will be cancelled with them.  Im just hoping with my past history with them and the fact I ordered it so early they make sure they keep one put aside for me.  No harm in asking right!

So far all cancellations with Play.com in terms of SE are xbox 360 versions and I've yet to hear this from a PS3 order or PC one. I ordered a Ps3 version in early december and a PC version one day before pre-order cutoff and neither were cancelled. I have a feeling they were went over their own personal order limit with Xbox 360 preorders for SE and that is why. Since they pay for all the shipping costs it's possible they believed they didn't have enough to pay to ship all those copies of Xbox 360 edition and had a cutoff for stock numbers on each platform.

They have no excuse for the lateness of their cancellations though.

Play has one weakness could use to your advantage which is they post reviews section right below the products. You could find all the pre-order games they sell and post review saying play dont fufill their pre-orders or something. Atleast letting others know if they order from play they might not get what they ordered regarding promotions and such.

Also I think Bioware/EA should ban play from running any future promotions on their products and either Bioware/Play or EA comphensate those who can prove they pre-ordered from such a place and had such thing happen with free DLC imho even if thats a code to download the DLC for free sent via email after release. But thats just right thing to do even if in reality hardly any companies ever do the right thing by it's customers.

Unfortunately this is a case of the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing.
Play.com will blame EA and EA will blame play.com

Already went that route already Dragoonlordz, wrote a very sracastic review , though i wonder if it will even show up at all lol

It's very easy.

When you made those orders last year ? There was no physical stock obviously. Either the supplier had said you get XXX copies and Play et al. Post "While stocks last"

Or you get a closing date and any orders before that date will be supplied.

A retailer can only sell what they are supplied with. If it was just one retailer you could say they screwed up the numbers. When it gets to 3 it looks like EA is purposely holding back on sig copies because they plan to release the same stuff as $$ DLC when the game is released.

So with that in mind I chose to be cynical.
