Play can't send you what they don't have. And if they only had a closing date and not an allocation , then EA should have filled all orders made before that date.

Well I dont think 100% of Signature Editions will be cancelled with them.  Im just hoping with my past history with them and the fact I ordered it so early they make sure they keep one put aside for me.  No harm in asking right!

:)

So far all cancellations with Play.com in terms of SE are xbox 360 versions and I've yet to hear this from a PS3 order or PC one. I ordered a Ps3 version in early december and a PC version one day before pre-order cutoff and neither were cancelled. I have a feeling they were went over their own personal order limit with Xbox 360 preorders for SE and that is why. Since they pay for all the shipping costs it's possible they believed they didn't have enough to pay to ship all those copies of Xbox 360 edition and had a cutoff for stock numbers on each platform.

They have no excuse for the lateness of their cancellations though.

I ordered PC.

I've phoned them twice and all they say is blah blah no stock etc etc. But surely bioware would have anticipated the demand and supplied enough?

BioWare has nothing to do with the shipping and physical aspect of this game - EA does. And aside from that, Play.com would have had to order / were given a specific amount of SEs to use, it is entirely thier fault as the retailer for understocking thier product.

Like it or not BioWare is part of EA, they made the game and they helped boost this big SE promo.  I would be irrate if I reordered only because of a big promo only to be told months later that I was out of luck.  Next time either BioWAre or EA wanted to give some preorder incentives I would simply say 'Forget it, fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me.'

To be honest theres blame to be had on both sides when you put it into perspective. EA for not meeting demand and the retailers for going over stock allowances. Im sure one is just as quick to blame the other but thats irrelevant to those who have lost there orders! They don't care whos to blame over a communication breakdown, they just want the product they thought they were getting.

I just hope lessons are learned, specifically for play who have obviously messed this up more then any of the other retailers. Theres no doubt other retailers have gone over allocation, but these threads and emails from Play dont seem to be stopping at the moment.

I'd go up the chain at play.com until you find someone authorized to give you a $7 credit on the pre-order of a non-signature edition. That will at least let you get the DLC, although it won't help with the items.

How in the world can they be out of stock?! Any order before cutoff was upgraded free.

Check to see if they have any regular DA2 stock, are they out of that as well?

What a headache.

If i remember correctly Play.com started cancelling SE editions before DA2 went gold.

Every day since these threads began, I've checked play.com to make sure my pre-order hasn't been cancelled. I ordered on the 5th of January (so fairly late) but for PS3, which I guess is less likely to be out of stock? Hallelujah for buying the least popular version then, I guess.

You guys definitely have my sympathy - especially when some of you have pre-ordered as far back as November! All we can hope for is that play.com/EA (whoever are most responsible) learn from this.

I actually cancelled my Play.com order to go with another store because I know how long Play take to deliver things, I'd probably never get the game until July or something.

Good job I did by the sounds of things, but I do miss out on my Signature Edition :(

Yep, they started sending emails a few days after the cut off date for the Sig Edition when they realised that they had far too many orders. See threads below:

Ah. Crap. I pre-ordered on Play.com on 27th October (PC version), pre-order is still there thank the Maker.

This is a surprise. Play.com has always been good with me, including with the Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts pre-order where there were problems with codes over several retailers.

I don't understand why they don't get more codes. Do they have to pay EA to recieve more codes or something? Can't be that difficult to get a new batch of codes in.

Will not be using Play.com again, even if my signature edition arrives intact.

Good idea although i doubt they'd do it. But if they didnt have the numbers then they shouldnt have taken the orders in the first place really

I ordered mine from shopto.net and last week i got an email title

"Dragon age 2 signature edition" and i thought oh crap they pulled a play.com

but it was to confirm that i was receiving it etc (all my friends ordereed from shopto.net and got the same email), which i'm guessing a lot of people have got into a panic for them to send an email regarding it...

I heard numerous stories about play.com, I only use them in certain circumstances...

Sorry to hear of more SEs being cancelled OP :(

I ordered mine on, I believe, the 2nd of January for the Xbox. Though I tend to buy alot of stuff from Play.com, so my theory is that is why mine hasn't been cancelled yet. Atleast it was still "preordered" as of bout two days ago.

But I honestly can't see how this occurs. The only difference between the SE and normal, that I can see, is a few DLC codes. Seeing as they knew the number of SEs needed since the 11th of January, it boogles the mind to think of how they can't make enough copies with the codes to send to the retailers.

I won't be using Play for these kinds of preorders again anyway

I'd check if your order if i were you. I ordered my copy 19/10/10 yet my order got cancelled same platform as yours ;p

Also i ordered some other items from play.com and on my outstanding orders page whenever i clicked on the DA2 Sig Ed link   it was stated that they were not accepting anymore pre orders for the sig ed and this was in dec/jan.
Tbh some idiot had gotten it all wrong and just went ahead and took peoples pre orders regardless.

Go to the highest chain of command and complain as nicely as you can with any proof you can. Someone else did it and got the pre-order back. I'm just wondering if that meant some other poor soul got canceled. This is a mess.

Bioware said that only enough to cover pre-orders will be manufactured, so doesn't that stand to reason that play.com should have contacted EA/Bioware with the number of Signature pre-orders so they could produce enough to cover them?

This doesnt fill me with confidence especailly since like you I ordered mine in October!!   Im glad I emailed them now and I hope to get a straight answer from them. The email I sent was rather detailed and if I get a generic fobbed off responce I wont be happy and will call them. If they dare cancel my order I will end my seven years of loyal custom with them!!

Additionally those who have you orders cancelled do ring them and voice your complaint.  You never know they may change their minds!   Usually these emails are sent to see who will simply accept the cancellelation.  Dont just accept it!! Ring them and get back the product you have ordered!

I have used play.com for 5 years with DVDs, Blu-rays, PC & PS3 games.

I never had these kind of problems with them before, my guess is they have problems with their x-box supplier, I have no idea why that is the case, though I have heard other retailers having problems with the DA2 SE x-box 360 version.

So far my PC DA2 SE hasn't been cancelled yet I ordered before the SE was up, maybe the problem isn't with play.com, might be with their source for x-box 360 games? <_<
