well Go to gamestop like normal people they don't cancelle pre orders

funny you should say that. i preordered like 5/6 monthes ago and they messed it up. i also preordered 2 days before the special ran out. and they messed it up again. so now i had to talk to the store and email them. they apparently dropped the ball badly because i finally got the reply from the regional district manager and she did not seem pleased. they have been trying to fix it for a month.Image IPB

I'm glad I have a receipt and paid a deposit, feel like my pre-order is more secure and I have more of an argument should my retailer decide to cancel it.

Well go to Amazon like cool people they dont cancel pre orders.

I don't pay shippin cost and i get Midnight release top that

I get 20 dollar gift card promotions, free release date shiping, and the best customer support ever top that.

I allready did I don't  have to wait for them to ship my game to me i can walk 2 blocks and get my game at midnight
customer support  why would i need that seting on the phone is not for me

20 dollar promotioal gift card Plus a 10 dollar promotional gift card on amazon means I only had to pay $ 33.24 for my sig edition with free release date delivery. That tops getting Dragon Age at mid night.

OH CRAP! just a thought..... it might be depo limited, as in its based on how much stock needs to be shipped where. this might sound stupid but sending the exact amount of stock needed for one area never really works out, its much easier to just do general numbers and round up or down so your tottals match.

I know its not really much of an excuse but if one area is overordered they will just cancel instead of ship from a depo that has it ¬_¬

Not form my point of View but i do respect   yours   if you order form amazon alot thats great  but its simpler for me just to walk  2 blocks to pick it up and some times you have to think of shiping errors too you might not get the game for week or more  As a long hull trucker i have dead lines that matter UPS or fedex don't care lol

If I remember right this meant you had the game pre-ordered before Signature was announced.   The sig edition was announced 4 months ago and your order is nearer to 5 months!!   I know I was the same and was glad that Play would instantly upgrade my order.

You have a right to demand an answer when you have had the game pre-ordered fro such a long period!!

Thanks Captain :) no it was most definately Signature Edition it even says so on my order confirmation email that play.com posted me.

the only plausable reason i think they might have cancelled my order was that i had to edit my payment options as my bank had issued me with a new card ( old 1 expired ), that withstanding that still shouldnt have had any effect on my order.

Interesting.  Customers arnt interested in excuses such as these though as you say.  I know why they would do it too as I worked in retail headoffice for a massive UK company a couple of years ago.   Of course Play would never say this or make it known.  But there is always a person high enough to make a decision in exceptional circumstances.

Curious. This is a crazy long shot, but I wonder if folks with cancelled orders all happen to be living in a similar region?

UK might be considered small compared to other countries but still thats no valid excuse ;)
unless EA consider Jersey small, which tbh is a offshore tax haven but then again i'm pretty sure play.com post items from a warehouse in liecestershire.

I dont agree that its a valid excuse however im just thinking along the lines of "what would a company do that THEY would think is a valid excuse" I work for a large major retailer.... one I really wish I didnt and hopefully wont be in the near future and when it comes down to what they deem as an acceptable excuse.... my god this would be one of the best coming from them.

No excuse is valid when your a segregating your customers into status categories. Which clearly what Play is doing. They cant fulfil orders so are making sure they dont lose face with their best customers. The fact the posts in this thread virtually proves this is really embarrassing.

Well N.American companies usually make sure they keep N.American consumers happy first and foremost, same applies with Japanese companies. Keep your immediate demographic happy and sod the rest lol.

Big Thank you goes out to Elerrina_7 for the helpful screenies from Chris :)

Business practice does this.  But Trading standards treats everyone as equals.  Just because your a better customer to the company doesnt mean your have more consumer rights.

Oh and thank you again Elerrina for the screenies.

not to rub salt into the wound here or anything but....

play.com preorder 07/01/2011 still there no problem....

I pre-ordered mine two days after that on the 9th. My order is still there at the moment. The cancellations seem a bit random.

Without wishing to call out Mr. Priestly and marketing I think it's time they used their power as the developer to champion those individuals who's pre-orders have been cancelled without reason. Individual customers have very little influence over the corporate machine without backing. The SE offer is a Bioware Marketing offer after all.

So you thinking that play.com have put people that own play.com's credit card above normal customers ? Well someone somewhere in play.com messed up, will they admit it ? i very much doubt it

As for those that ordered in january i'm pretty sure that they wasnt accepting orders for signature edition at that point, but they took them anyway . :o
