Things get released on Tuesdays in America and Fridays in Europe. 'Tis how things are.

Another brainwashed corporate sheep?  The same applies for many forms of media (mainly film)....that does not stop some companies doing a worldwide release date.

There is no 'law' that says games 'must' be released on a Friday.  It's corporate bull. keeping the core fanbase of the publishers country happy.  Simple as that.

You notice other games (such as dare I say TW2) are not having this issue.... Posted Image

It has nothing to do with EA. Games are always released on Thursdays or Fridays in Europe.

True, but I have yet to hear a valid reason for WHY??? Why do 20+ publishers all decide that Europe can only have a game on a friday, what is it some sort of digital sabbath?

What next, "sorry sir, we only sell milk on a wednesday".

So people don't call in sick for work just to play the game, like a lot of people do in NA.

Blizzard released Cata in Europe earlier, but it was still Tuesday.

Blizzard still do Tuesday releases in Europe, no one seems horrified by it.

Because the Alliance of WoW Hordelings would raid the stores in a rare show of cooperation if they didn't.

I was actually thing the Wings of Liberty release, but yeah, fine.

Blame the EU. Not the EA.

So the EU gave Activision special dispensation to release Black Ops on a Tuesday?

That's just time zone differences though.

But why it has to be a Friday is still a bit of a mystery to me. It's basically just annoying.

Take it up with EU retailers who only release new stuff on Thursday of Friday. There's not much EA or BioWare can do about it when retailers stick their hands in their ears and go "Nananana, THURSDAY/FRIDAY ONLY, NONE OF THE FANS ARE COMPLAINING."

They will just ignore it.

I know, I agree with you. People overuse that word and generally use it completely wrong as well.

No, not at all. Many games get released on tuesdays or atleast the same day as America in Europe. All recent Blizzard games, Final Fantasy 13, The Witcher 2, Call of Duty, Gears of War 3 and skyrim to name a few that have the same release day.

Personally I feel the 'European games must be released on friday' deal is just silly. One of those old habits that should have been gone by now. There's hardly any reason for EA not to release it on the same date.

Oh, then it really is some EA policy.

The idea originally came about (certainly in the UK) because it is mpore 'logical' to release media such as games and film on a Friday as most people then finish work (or they did, not so much now in the 24/7 world we live in).

So you finish work at 4pm on a Friday, and you're not back in work until 9am Monday. It makes sense to release big films and games on a Friday.
But thats all there is to it. No conspiracy, no laws, just easier. That in now way affects whren other countries get something. Like I said, it's corporate bull, America gets it sooner, as it's our core demographic, I mean, god forbid you upset a few Americans because they don't get their god given right to see something before everyone else right?

And thats ultimately what it comes down to. Community even anyone? Same corporate crap. We may not like it (including a lot of Americans), but I doubt it will change anytime soon.

I'll probably get lamented for saying this, but from public perception, EA does not care about anything outsiode North America.  This has unfortunately, been proved, time and time again.

I have a friend who works in Gamestation (large UK games company - in case you couldn't guess) and did a brief stint in one of their warehouses. They said they usually had games in for a week before even despatching to the retail outlets, so I'm guessing time constraints aren't the issue.

Osena...whiel I agree with that, you really think EA as a global company is sending millions of pretty boxes out of the USA to Europe?

Be serious, EU discs are printed and boxed in the EU.....I may hate EA, but they are not not dumb.

But your term of them being a North American company, and them wanting to deliver to there first, entirely agree with.

who cares people? we get the game ready for a weekend long of gaming.

Let the yanks have the game first and let them encounter any game breaking bugs that will be patched for us europeans :)
