are you freaking serious?!? WTF! the best part of any RPG is the leveling up and Bioware is only allowing you to reach a weak ass level 20?? the effin blows!i mean seriously WTF? oh let me guess here comes everybody defending this now saying "Oh it dont matter hurr derr cuz like if each level you get to pick more stats to upgrade then whats it matter if its 20 levels or 50"?
it matters cuz everytime i gain a level its like a milestone i reached and i feel like i accomplished something and they are only letting me do that 20 times max. thats bull crap.
and i bet all you people out there who are defending this let me guess - would you like an RPG if it only let you level up to say Level 5 and it was a 60 hour game? what would you say then? "Oh it dont matter cuz i like that stuff yay!"

The cap is at 50 but you're only gonna get enough xp for the midtwenties

Im sure if you do every single side quest you can get to 30+  otherwise what's the point in putting a level cap that's completely unattainable.  Reaching the level cap near the end of the game is the perfect way to set it, is liek a double award :)

So, 1 skill point per level?

So basically would give us 25 levels roughly, then we get 25 skill points.

Agreed. It should be like Sacred, where the level limit is (if I remember correctly) 350.
Of course, having that many levels, when you reach one it is not all that big a deal. One stat point and one to five skill points. It does completely fill the health and mana balls, though. That has saved my chartacter's butt a few times.

According to the PC Gamer podcast the reviewer reached level 23 or 24 by the end, but had a few unfinished side quests. He also didn't have access to any of the DLC. I'd expect level 25 to be achieveable, just like Origins.

I myself dont care what the level cap is.

Just going to enjoy the game and let the levelling take care of itself.

Don't care, more levels to gain = more fun.

Disagree. Dead levels, where little to nothing is gained, is very boring and not fun. So long as leveling up is consistantly meaningful, I'm cool.

i absolutely agree..i'd rather work for the levels spread out among the game, where gaining a level is more critical to the game mechanic than just gaining perks. i do like to reach high levels, but not to the point that it breaks the game.

there has to be a balance..im sick of playing easy games..if having to gain less levels is what makes rpgs more challenging, then so be it..i want to win based on my tactical wits, not because i've leveled myself into a level 99 god playing a broken game..

i was def looking for a more solid answer on this though. i just wanna know what im in for so i can at least put a proper plan together as how i want to build my character(s)..i just got the game but havent played it yet..took UPS all day to drop off my pre-order..kinda pissed at them..and they drop it off right before im expecting this guy to come give me some new internet hardware from brighthouse..pssh..

I miss playing FF 3 for my snes and being able to level up to 99 if I wanted to. There was a small patch if grass in the overworld map where you could only fight Tyrannosaurs and they would give you mega XP and I would sit there walking back and forth fighting these things gaining level after level. There was no such thing as a cap back then. Some mandatory cap the dev's put in place to stop you leveling. No you were only "Capped" because the game couldnt go past level 99 to 100. and if I wanted to grind to get that high level I could to my hearts content. I dont like how it is lately with RPG's.<br />

I gotta tell you that sounds, aweful. You know you could probably get a SNES and a copy of FF3 somewhere right? If you're so nostalgic over endless level grinds then feel free to do that if that's what you enjoy.

I think I will check out that Disgaea game

Oh I can advice the series, if it is about leveling as well. Oh and if you get to know the developer and the idea behin on disgaea they propably made that aspect for mocking reasons. In general a good series about game sthat take their own genre not that serious.

That said nothing wrong about just 20 levels.Anyway RPGs are not about leveling but more about leveling and customisation. In FF7 that was archived trough the materias for example. In general in normal solo JRPGs the level up ist the most time really just for status development and most of the time not grind connected as some write here always to feel a bit more superior. :)

I guess generalisation one day will be the doom of humanity. :)

Bioware had it right with nwn before the expansions lvl 16 ftw! It was godlike and pointless at the max lvl for the final expansion.

i can understand reaching 25 because i am 24 and almost reached 25....But reaching higher than that is it even possible? Can you play with the same character the campaing twice like ME?If no then the only logical explanation is using cheats.

Yeah I hope its not like the last one in the regard that there is only a set amount of xp in the world that can be retrieved. By the end of the game, you just run out of side road bandits that want to kick you ass. This also occurred in Mass Effect 2 which was disappointing because I wasn't quite ready to go to Reaver **** ( sorry for getting off topic.). Im hoping that if there is a level cap, then we are allowed to reach it with an unlimited pool of xp

The only advantage to bug leveling up that far is unlocking some of the passive abilities. Your stamina pool is never deep enough to use all of the abilities you unlock, and your armor and defense automatically drop as you level up, since that's how the level scaling feature works.

So unless you find decent gear, using xp bug to level up just makes you weaker.

I see.....I love both DA origins and DA2 but I truly dislike the fact than you can't play with same character the campain twice... I can't understand why you can't import your character like every other bioware's game(ME,NWN,BG etc)When you finally get the best equipment you don't have a decent time to use them because the game ends and you have to create another character.

Do you get more xp playing on higher a difficulty? Does they A.I. send more reinforcements your way, giving more kills?

well im 36 now and levels seem to make no difference honestly. Even at that level i still feel like im hitting things with a stick regardless of how many points i dump into my Str. im guessing the enemies level up with you to keep the challenge of the game in check

Actually, levelling up over the softcap (25) could be harmful to you. Enemies grow tougher as your level increases, but you gain new abilities and stronger equipment to make up for it. Once you run out of abilities to pick (starting a brand new tree unrelated to your build isn't helping) and level-appropriate equipment to equip, enemies grow in power faster than the player.

Level cap is 50. I know that for a fact.
