The only one who joined for pay was Zaeed. The rest joined you for a variety of reasons, whether altruism or a need for a favour, but stay on out of personal loyalty to Shepard.

The VS could be just someone your boss made you work with.

If I have to sacrifice yet another life to keep him/her alive, then they are bad luck and it's just not in the cards for them to live I guess.

Kaidan is worth a lot to me. A LOT. But my Shepard is a paragon. She's a Colonist. She's a Sole Survivor - people under her command have died before. She will save as many people as possible, even if it means sacrificing her love. If it came down to a decision between Kaidan and one other squadmate, I would be biased towards saving Kaidan, like on Virmire. But if my Shepard had to choose between saving Kaidan or saving multiple squadmates, she would save the squadmates. And then off herself soon after.

Besides, are those who are willing to sacrifice ME2 squaddies sure that Ashley/Kaidan would approve of that? Choosing one of them over the other on Virmire already caused grief and was a source of guilt for the survivor.

Working for free doesn't make them any less mercs.

Well, that seems fair enough. Unless you've been through that system yourself, you won't know how much of a bullsh*t are those tales about the "brotherhood"... and you won't understand why some people would still favor a person they don't really know (or even dislike) over a relative, under certain circumstances.

The only problem I had with Virmire in ME1 was that I couldn't leave both of them to die by nuclear fire and after what happend on Horizon the VS is as good as dead.

I wouldn't sacrifice a cockroach to save any of them.

No one member of my team is more valuable than any other.  I'd never "sacrifice" more than one to save another, but whom I'd choose would be based entirely on the situation at hand.  If it does more harm than good to save the VS, they'd have to die.  If it does more good than harm, then I'd be willing to even let Garrus go.

From a meta perspective, all of them up to and including the new Normandy. The only character I liked as much as the VS died on Virmire.

From a RP perspective, well... the only Shepard I managed to get through ME2 before giving up on it is certifiable after having been brought back to life, and would certainly prioritize the person she sees as heir to her "saving the galaxy" job over a bunch of people she hates.

It is a numbers game for me.

Shep's objective, after accomplishing the mission, is to get the maximum number of his team out alive. If the VS can only be saved by sacrificing several other squadmates, than the VS doesn't get saved. This would be true even if it was Liara, who my Shep is in a relationship with.

Personal feelings have to take a backseat to the mission and to Shep's responsibilities as a combat leader. As Marines Kaidan or Ashley would also understand and accept that. In fact they'd probably advise against rescuing them for that reason.

To get the VS back (and presumably acting normal again), I'd kill the entire ME 2 crew and crash the SR 2 into a moon if that's what it takes. And have a smile on my face while doing it.

Kaidan used to be my Shepard's best friend in ME1 and will try to save him if necessary, but the galaxy nneds all of those 12 goof ball badasses to destroy the Reapers. I like Kaidan and all, but if it comes down to it, Im not risking the future of the galaxy in the name of friendship.



Also, in every Zombie survival test I have taken, I always shoot the best friend who gets bit by a zombie. Sorry, hardcore survivalism is in my nature.

yeah I don't think this poll was set up very well. Not really sure a better question, but asking to sacrifice your ME2 squadmate(s) for the VS seems silly to me (and majority of people, according to the poll thus far)



Ashley had her chance. She sounded like a 12 year old on horizon incapable of using logic or reason in any way shape or form. The love letter afterward helped some i suppose, but in the end, after all the character development that went into the ME2 characters, there's no way I'd sacrifice any of them. Maybe Thane, considering he's going to die soon anyway. But other than that, no. Most of the ME2 characters' personalities and character depth make Ashley seem like a stock character.

After Horizon, the Virmire Surrvior isn't worth anything to me. If I can get ashley back with no strings attached then I will accept her back into my squad however if I have to chose between her and my new LI well I know who's side I'm taking aand who I'm abandoing. If it's choice between her life and the and someone from the ME2 crew then I'm sacrificing Ashley.

It says alot that I would take Jack over Ashley given how much I dislike Jack.
