I vowed to never sacrifice another person for the VS ever again, so as much as I love Ashley, she dies in my canon playthrough if someone needs to be left behind.

The VS dies this time.

They started a war on Horizon, hopefully I'll finish it in Arrival.

The entire point of the ME2 cast was in depth charcter development.

And it utterly failed. Even if "tell Sheppy about your daddy issues then succumb to his talk-jutsu-indoctrination" can pass for "character development", only Mordin can rival Ashley or Kaidan. They were indeed very developed characters. For example, Ashley:

- Biography: Alliance Marine, blacklisted despite all her best scores
- Family issues (a whole bunch of them, and receiving a whole new angle these days)
- "Racism"
- Hate of Cerberus
- Religious beliefs
- Poetry

That's at least six distinct characteristics, while most of the ME2 squadmates have no more than two or three.

I'm not saying it's bad for any character to have less baggage. For example, such a crude guy like Zaeed doesn't need more than one "dimension" to be pure awesome. But it doesn't bode well to a "character driven plot", when all characters tend to be like that once their specific plot line is complete.

This.

Plus

-Ash neither asks for nor expects help in her personal problems.  She likes who she is and solves her problems on her own.

I don't have any DLC and won't have this one either, but if I did, most of my Shepards wouldn't sacrifice anyone for Kaidan/Ashley. They saw what happened on Horizon as a betrayal. So I'll just hope that DLC isn't the only chance to keep Kaidan/Ashley off the team in ME3... and on the off-chance Liara is one of the squadmates who could be sacrificed, then I'll be a little jealous that I don't get to play Arrival too. xD

God....... that's the hardest choice I believe I ever had to make!

Well Ash is me Li in my Main Paragon and I have all surviving members.....

So I can either can let her die and save my ME2 team for ME3; most likely helping be prepare for The Reapers OR saving the woman I once had familiar relations with.... THIS IS TOUGH!

I would sacrifice Jacob, then Samara/Morinth, then maybe Grunt. They are probably the most boring characters on that ship, and they take precedence over Miranda (annoying) because she is so darn useful.

It depends, but if there is one character I would NEVER sacrifice to save an another one : it would be Miranda. I would prefer sacrifice my Shepard, instead.

Thane, Samara/Morinth.

I'd trade them for Ash.

None I have to say, Ashley was never my favorite character and I think it would be moronic (no offense intended of course) to sacrifice a whole elite squad so one marine could make it off the planet.

Honestly, I think that forcing such a choice would be unfair. We weren't forced into such a choice when it came to Liara, and I think that the VS deserves the same treatment ... unless BioWare wants to punish those of us who remained human-loving nativists or something.

As to whether or not I could do it ... I developed emotions for the ME1 characters, even Liara although I was creeped out by her rather than liking her. I didn't really develop any emotions for the ME2 characters beyond Garrus and Tali for whom I already felt some affection. So, if I boiled my choice down to simply which characters made the ME trilogy worth playing and replaying because I (the player) cared, a lot of my ME2 squaddies are SOL. If I made the choice in a more RP manner, it gets messier because I can see my Sheps liking or respecting quite a few of the ME2 squaddies despite BioWare's lack of ability to make me (the player) feel that. I could see sacrificing Thane or maybe Jack, but even that would be tough.

I would just like to say the fact that this forum has 68 people who are willing to kill their entire team for one character has just solidified my lack of faith in humanity.

What can I say?  Some of these entirely fictional characters had more of an impression on us than others Image IPB

I would let two of Jacob, Miranda and Zaeed die. Not all of them though. Even a Shepard who romanced the VS would not let their crew all die to save them.

I do not see any relevance to the VS in terms of helping to build an alliance to stop the reapers now, with what I know. I see more importance with some of the ME2 squadmates and Dr. Kenson. The VS dies. With Casey Hudson's statement that 'they need to be in the third game' it seems like either they will be in the DLC and not sacrificed or left out of the DLC entirely.

What about her family?

Sigh. It's an interesting question, but it's really not likely that the VS is even going to be in Arrival, much less put in a position of plot importance. Once Virmire and the optional scene before Ilos was done, they were completely interchangeable and expendable. And I have no interest in killing any more of my squadmates. People have a sick sense of empowerment when it comes to whom they can "kill"...no, Shepard does not "kill" anyone. Squadmates die due to your choices. It's an important distinction.

Both of my main characters would let them die if given the choice. Actually on my pro Cerberus play through I would trade Jack for Ashley. Don't like any of them but one isn't a crazy biotic **** and that one is a little safer to have around.

My other Shepard, she isn't very interested in either of those characters, in ME1 she was more interested in the aliens. Giving the VS option I was all like wait who are these two people wanting to sacrifice themselves, haven't seen them since Eden Prime.

Well Thane's only got a few months to live so he's pretty expandable (sorry man)
Morinth, I need to get rid of anyway so that's another.
Jacob's pretty meh and I'm sure he'd be willing to go.
I don't really need Miranda..
And Zaeed seems the type to want to go out in a blaze of glory so if he's up for it I won't stop him.

So what's that? 4-5 squadmates.

That's why the Alliance has got them goddamned "fraternization" regs in place!

Wouldn't sacrifice a single one of them for Kaiden.

Kaiden was supposed to be my right hand man. I could understand him not wanting to join my crew because of Cerberus, but I would have expected a little bit less **** from him.

On top of that, it seemed to me that he sold Shepard out in exchange for a promotion. Why is it that an Alliance engineer would sacrifice his career defending your position on the Reapers, but the one guy who helped you FIGHT them didn't say a damn thing?
