So to fix this I would like whoever controls the layout of this site to change the Avatar uploading section to that like of the group photo uploader so we can have our own custom avatars, if our "glitch uploder" is broken.
Please Moderators and those who control the layout of the BSN, Consider the possiblity.
Faithfully: John Newton

Problem is, if they allowed just anyone to upload their own avatar, those of us who know the secret handshake etc would need to find something else to feel elitist about. It could be a lot of effort: God knows I don't want to have to do something that actually involves any sort of... well, anything at all, really. Think about it, it'd be terrible!
Well..if you remember Bobo put up a blog for people who don't know how, so it isn't really a secret anymore.

I don't think it's about it being a secret. If Bioware let everyone upload custom avatars as simply as that it could easily be open to abuse. Think about what you would see... You don't want this site to become Chat Roulette do you? Think of the children!
Then the moderators could bann users with such avatars

Ohh there are so many more secrets to this site then just the avatars that give me a false sense of superiority. For example posting images in status updates.

Well before they even think about adding new features shouldn't they at least fix the current problems with the site.

I'm afraid you have a point. Seeing as how they haven't even bothered to fix the dead status update glitch yet, I don't think that they're in any hurry to upgrade the site.

Personally I like it the way it is. Being forced to exploit the character upload glitch makes uploading avatars more of an ordeal, so it deters trolls from uploading pornographic or otherwise shocking images to their alt accounts.
I agree anyone wanting to put inappropiate avatars won't want to go through all the trouble to get one on there.

And what's preventing people from puting in inapropriate content into their signatures? Oh right, nothing.
If your going to let people have fully customizable signatures, you might as well go all the way and allow customizable avatars as well.

That's pretty much the same conversation I had with myself a while back. My initial explanation sounded quite compelling until I realised there were so many other convenient ways of posting inappropriate content, and that if it was a major concern they probably wouldn't be offering a forum at all.wulfsturm wrote...

Agreeded I would like to see the current problems fixed. Yet at the same time I like it the way it is. I enjoy having a custom avitar plus it's fun to mess around with HTML and seeing what happens. I don't want BSN to become like Facebook.

Bethesda's forums have custom avatars and it's nothing like Facebook just because of that. Your argument, in my opinion, falls short.Captain Cornhole wrote...

Well what I ment by that is, Facebook has custom avatars (profile pictures etc.) which is all fine and dandy but for the most part I was refering to the HTML liberties and hidden section of this site. Not to say Bethesda or Facebook dosn't have hidden section, but on Facebook they for the most part disable custom HTML codeing. Which is probably for a good reason, but at the same time it's annoying.

I think you'd be surprised. I visit quite a few forums which allow users to upload custom avatars, and I've never seen any problems as a result. One of them even requires a 50-post minimum before you can do so.
