i dont have the original vanilla DA:O so there arent any overwrite problems, also if possible i would prefer to fix this without reinstalling because i bought it from steam and so to reinstall i would have to download like 24gb again.

anyhow, just like everyone else i had that DLC unauthorized error. at this point, i had access to the awakening. now after fixing the DLC and getting all of it to work, another error pops up - the other campaigns option is now greyed out.

>:(

edit:

jesus christ, now half of the dc isnt working. when it gets 100% downloaded it says install failed

First off, you should not need to download DLC with the Ultimate Edition... it all comes on the disc (or in the digital download)... it only needs to authorized. So whatever you did to try and fix things is tricking UE to download the content again.

If it's doing that, maybe you should go ahead and reinstall?

Adding... I wonder if this post that just updated may be of some help?

edit: gonna try the thread you just suggested now

i tried doing a reinstall hoping it would fix the problems i had, but of course it kept some files from before for some reason so i essentially wasted 8 hours downloading the game again.

anywho, launching the game again and other campaigns is still greyed out. when i click on downloadable content, i see this:

available content:
feastday pranks
return to ostagar
feastday combo pack
feastday gifts

download progress:
the darkspawn chronicles
the golems of amgarrak
the stone prisoner
wardens keep
witch hunt
lelianas song

all of those mentioned in download progress either say download failed or install failed

installed content:

this part is completely blank

the fix i did in the first place was to get my DLC authorized, but that led to more problems and i was kinda hoping i could start fresh with a reinstall. feels bad man.

alright i tried running the applications in the redist folder, also made sure that my game is registered on this website and i have used my promo code. it says under my promotions the names of all the DLC.

after performing these actions, things took a weird turn. everything that was under download progress in my above post has moved into available content, and is basically saying i can buy them and do not own them

O_O

also awakening is still unavailable

this hurts my head

Hmmm... this would make a lot more sense if you had an old version of Origins registered to this account... some sort of conflict, ya know?  You can check to see what you *should have on this page... http://social.biowar...ntitlements.php

Sorry... forum is a little slow updating... lot of traffic with DA2 nigh ;)

Anyway, a few thoughts. First, I don't have the Steam version... but it's popular and a lot of people have had issues with installing it, as you've gathered by now.

Second... there are some threads linked through my sig (Solutions Round-up) that may help... I dunno at this point, or maybe you've already seen them.

Third...and this is a bit radical, but someone once suggested this a while back... your game is a registered copy of DA:UE, regardless from whom you bought it. So in theory you could download it direct from EA using their Download Manager software. That's what I did for ME2-- I have it on disc, but I used EADM to download it. I bought my copy of Ultimate Edition through them as well. All you do is install the latest version of the Download manager and enter in your key. Best to run it as an Admin, BTW, if you have Win 7. The download is something like 12.4 GB for UE, but it gives you the option of saving the installation files, too. Now, if you take that route, probably best to do a full uninstall of DA:UE and delete all the folders under program files and my documents first, just to be safe.

Before doing ANY of that, you may want to talk to EA directly. support.ea.com. They're pretty responsive-- I don't know how helpful-- but they might suggest something.

Sorry you're having so much trouble!

My pleasure. You caught me on a good night. And I received a lot of good advice on this board once upon a time. Like to payback when I can.

ok im seriously starting to lose my patience now
downloaded it again for the third time, now i cant even launch the game because it goes straight to configuration utility and as its collecting my system information it stops responding every single time and crashed

(fixed this by disabling steam community ingame)

edit:

its official, EA is ****ing with me
8 hours to do a full redownload and reinstall, only to discover that the awakening is still missing and i still have my dlc problem

i doubt i can even get a refund cause i ve already used that stupid code

do a complete uninstall, delete everything to do with dragon age (except for your characters, keep them >.>)

reinstall fresh

login on your account

follow instructions if other campaigns arent there:

I have the same problem. It all installed successfully (or so it said), but New Game only offers the original options and Other Campaigns is greyed out. So it looks like something hasn't registered properly.

Edit: and I've got a fix for it, I think (there might be a simpler way to do this, but this is what seemed to work for me).

1. Open up your Dragon Age game folder.

2. Open addins, then dao_prc_ep_1 under there.

3. Right-click Edit the manifest.xml file.

4. Select from the line (this is almost the entire contents of the file).

5. Copy it to the clipboard.

6. Open your My Documents folder.

7. Open up BioWare, Dragon Age, Settings.

8. Right-click Edit the AddIns.xml file.

9. Go right to the bottom of this file, and immediately before the final tag (ie. right after the last tag, paste the text you copied earlier.

10. Save and close everything, then run the game. Awakening should appear properly now.

THIS FREAKING WORKED! YES! One step that I initially did wrong that wasn't 100% clear to me, Step 9, I would re-word as:

9. Go right to the bottom of this file. Right after the line "", paste the text you copied earlier.

Ok **** this, i cannot get this to work, you know what? forget it.. i'm going to cut my loss and stop trying. I use to like bioware but ever since EA became their publisher their game support becomes worse and worse. They can forget me buying their mass effect 3 or their knights of the old republic, I am done.
