I gotta say I am awesome with face creators in games don't ask me why even in games with crappy face creation tools (oblivion) I can still make pretty awesome faces.

I mean, look at my avatar. Haw haw haw.

That's why I'd love a go on the character creator before the game comes out!

Otherwise, Varric will begin the story, do the exaggerated bit, begin the story anew, and then I will be sat there for a whole hour making my character, before the story resumes. Even then, I might decide her skin tone looks wrong in this lighting, or her nose looks weird from that angle. And with your family's appearance changing to match, it's even more vital to make Hawke as you like.

I find default faces, FemHawke especially, perfectly done and for that reason I won't bother with customizing.

Oh yes I intend to spend quite a bit of time fiddling with the CC. Doesn't bother me though, I love it!

Personally, I think she needs more eye make-up.

BioWare, can I make a Batman mask out of make-up in this game? It's not an RPG if I can't.

OMG this, I hope we can find out how our family looks like before we go in the game, otherwise I might re-do a prefect Hawke just because now I don't like Bethany's hair, or Leandra's nose... dammit so much variables , you just made me obsess more about the CC.

I'm still a bit sceptical about your family members' appearance changing...we'll see.

Yes I too am of the chronic ocd crowd and the smallest fault that I find while playing would usually force me to restart the entire playthrough so all hail the black emporium, course if I make a decision or choose a line of dialogue that doesn't seem in keeping with my character i'll also be forced to restart again.

I suppose this could lead to some frustration with the dialogue system but i'm hopeful from the patter in the demo, oh well I can't decide whether this is perfectionism or just pathetic.

Funny because I always thought this character of yours looked good, but the expression on her face? that is something else, priceless :P

@blothulfur: Autosave spamming FTW!

I forgot all about your families features changing based on how you look. I wonder how that'll work.

Hours and hours and hours will be spent.

You've no idea the amount of times I restarted a DA:O playthrough, halfway through the game, because I noticed my warden's cheeks were a bit thinner or fatter than I had intended them to be.

I know I will <.< I suck at the ME creator but I am fairly happy with the results I got from origin's. I'm going to the midnight release so I might just spend about 15 min with my first character but in the morning redo it with the dlc mirror.

My second character in Origins was a mage who I thought looked good initially, but when I started playing him, it appeared his cheeks were sunk into his face. It drove me nuts.

I had to redo my Female Dalish Rogue because after the initial scene I found her upper lip was actually inside her mouth

Quick pointer to face builders:

Find some pictures of people you think are hot. Study their faces (nose length, eye spacing, jaw width, etc). Then make your character. It will be much easier to make someone you think is hot if you know the basic geometry of what you like. Art is more about perception than it is about drawing/painting/whatever, and building a face draws on those same concepts.

Repeat for whatever type of character you want (hot, intimidating, ugly, dainty, etc).

Well at least in Origins it was easy to make a hot chick character, and I assume it'll be fairly easy for DA2. ME2 however, I could never make a female Shepard I was happy with.

Hahahah YES!

After countless hours spent trying to make myself in any character creator, I just gave up and started making made up faces that look "cool".

It still takes me minimum 2hours...but wow, you should see the masterpieces I have created.

Varric: I'll tell you what really happened......*spends an hour discussing whats happening in character creation to Cassandra*

I'll be spending a long time in the CC. I get really OCD about having them look just right. My Shepards all look the same because theres only ever 1 look i'm happy with. I managed to make a fair few different wardens I was happy with though, so the DA2 creator should be fun.

Course if they release an update to the toolkit i'll be busily crafting a qunari for bloody ages, hopefully without horns who'll need his own playthrough.

Well, character creation is such games.. I usually spend no less than half an hour creating my character. And if customization is robust - even more.

The mirror will allow me to create my character in 15 minutes, instead of spending 5 hours like I used to. Because, the mirror will allow me to fix mistakes I made.
