I spend a silly amount of time designing each character. I don't tend to keep making characters until I get one I am happy with, I just stay on the creation screen until I'm fully happy. Obviously this sometimes leads to the problem where the lighting was off in the CC and in game something doesn't look right - that, for me, is where the mirror comes in very handy. While drastic changes would be immersion breaking for me, a little change here and there that was easily missed in the CC is welcome.

I also spend way too much time in character creation. If I am going to watch this character for hours, I want to be satisfied that the character looks the way I wanted him/her to look.

I will! I spent hours making little adjustments on my first PC's face in the character creator that came out pre-release for DA:O.

I'm sticking with the default options precisely because I get obsessed with getting my character perfect. It took me like 5 tries to get my first character done (my avatar if anyone cares). The preset options in Origins were kind of plain and ugly so I really couldn't settle for anything less than my own creation. Garret and Marian are really good looking so I can live with them.

Maybe the only thing I would change about the deafults would be to give them gentler eyes. They look so fierce in the demo. I like to play a more compassionate/broody type personality so the fierce look doesn't quite feel right.

My first DAO character was a dwarf. It was also my first Bioware game so I didn't really know what to expect. I made a traditional dwarf -- wide square jaw and increased her nose size and gave her messy hair. LOVED HER and then Alistair had to go break immersion when he said, "Maker's breath, you're beautiful."

So, yeah, duh, started spending more time in the CC after that. =p

DEFINITELY.

I love playing around with those sliders and making an awesome character.

This is a big problem for me, and it sucks because all I ever want to do is just play the game. I tend to spend way too much time on each little slider, meticulously pouring over every detail. Even then, I tend to not be happy with the full way I look in the game. I could just go default, but that seems a bit boring. Anyone else OCD in this regard?.

Yep, me too.  I have about a dozen abondoned begins of DAO because I didn't quite like the pc's nose, or mouth, etc.
And I spent literally hours replaying the first 5 minutes of ME2 because I couldn't get my FemShep right.

I think Bioware are aware of how crazy some of us are, and the mirror of transformation is a great inclusion.  Thankyou Bioware!

QFT. If only we had this in ME. I am so glad I preordered DA 2.

This. Totally. I could NEVER get my Wardens looking just right to me... Especially my male wardens. I have a tendency to make them slightly...effeminate...

I'm glad about the mirror forgot about that. In origins when I see my character in -game I see a flaw that needs to be changed or it would annoy me the whole in-game so pretty much I had to redo several times to get it right

I'll make my first character, jump into the game, and then turn the camera a certain angle and realize that she looks like a giraffe. Usually takes me about three or four tries before everything looks the way I want it to.

Yay for the mirror!

Unlikely, I'll just end up fiddling with the mirror quite a bit to change looks... though, I do have the desire to look like Lisabeth through the whole game.

Always. Call me shallow, but I spend a lot of time working on characters... I can't tell you how many times I end up restarting because something looks off when I take the character out into the world... Mass Effect was probably the most annoying because you had to sit through the freaking intro every time this happened. Sadly, I'm stuck with like... caveman brow for ME2. The character looked fine in ME1, but for some reason, when Shepard is angry or being renegade, his brow furrows so much you can barely see his eyes. And if you try to tweak an imported face, it looks all wrong in the ME2 CC. Whatever... no way in hell was I going to play through ME1 again just to fix it. Not that vain.

I tend to just do the facial hair and the hair, maybe the eyes. I can't stand character creations, they take far to long and it always look like crap at the end.

My big problem though is every additional play through I do, they will all look the same because I get use to hearing the voice through the face and any other face just makes me crazy.

I feel like Hawke is going to be like Shepard, not my character just the character I play so I don't really care how she looks. I slaved over the Dragon Age 1 pre-release character creator for a long while, and I love my character.
I'm going to miss her. :(

I'll just leave Hawke at default because she's fine the way she is. Just like Shepard.

Yep, right there with the OP.

I should probably just use the default face first time through. Then come back and build some custom faces later for further playthroughs.

You used a period after a question mark. Don't do that.

Oh, uh, anyway, I know this may seem shocking, but I shall indeed spend too much time on the character creator.:P

Now that you can actually tell what your character's eye color is, I'll probably spend all the more time on it.

I tend to take forever when I'm doing CC! I mean it can take either 30 minutes up to an hour and a half! But I find it's worth it in the end; sure you may not like one tiny detail but here you got your own original character! Cool stuff right there :D

I will, even if I'm not intent on using the character I might just load it up to see what I can make.

I routinely spend more than an hour designing each face. DAO took even longer because I had to design the portrait, too.

I do not expect to make much use of the Mirror.
