I should probably just use the default face first time through. Then come back and build some custom faces later for further playthroughs.

I refuse to hear Hawke's voice until I've designed my first face.  I don't want to associate the voice with the default head.

Yes, I will take a lot of time creating the character. That's actually one of my favorite parts of the game.

I always do this, it's going to be an hour long affair getting my Lady Hawke perfect, I swear.

Won't you have to deal with that sort of problem anyway on your second playthrough?

I'm afraid that I may have already done that. The disappointment is somewhat negated by the fact that Lady Hawke is quite the looker.

I'll do what I always do, work for an hour making the perfect character then in the last minute accidentally hit B thus destroying my progress.

Seriously that better be fixed.

I definately will, I am so OCD about these things. I remember with my fallout:nv and oblivion charas I spent about an hour getting them just so. How I see it is your going to be spending 50+ hours with this character, it needs to be how you want it lol. But that mirror is a godsend XD

I'm OCD about work, and I suppose I can get a little like that when I get into character creation screens & whatnot. Not a problem here, as I actually like the default femHawe (basically).

9/10 times character customization is a must but this time I'm sticking with default. Can't resist how good Marian Hawke already looks. I'll customize for my second play through. :)

There are a couple ways around this... so far I haven't heard Male Hawke's voice, so I'm good.  If I get a chance to play the demo, I will play as Fem Hawke. Finally, just like with ME, I just re-use the same face for every version of the character... kind of like alternate realities rather than different people assuming the role of "Shepard."  This mostly applies to games with voiced protagonists... in Fallout and Oblivion, it's different pretty much every time.

Also, though, (possibly a kind of small

spoiler

upcoming)

...

Since default Hawke is used automatically for the exaggerated opening portion, and possibly any exaggerated portions (not sure how many there are), it may be a bit unavoidable to create such a connection.

I finally found an appearance for a human noble that I liked (my picture), and I've stuck with it for five or six different characters, with minor variations such as the hair, for example.

Did the same thing with Shepard in Mass Effect.

Mute + subtitles.  I think it's only for the first part of the game, but don't quote me.

This thread is so similar to the one I made the day before that every time I see it at the top of the thread list I think its mine.

I always have to customize if it's available, because it's how I make my character unique. I like the default Lady-Hawke, but that's not going to stop me. I'll probably pick a default I like and tweak it. Im really eager to see what the options are when the game comes out.

I'll spend some serious time to get my Hawke really good. I'll take one of the pre-set faces I like and then play around with his/her features to get them where I like.

I start and restart and over again. i can't tell you how many times I redid my characters from DAO. This time around? Probably not as much. I like both the defaults.

I start from scratch and make a guy that looks good and if I don't like it I do it all over again. Maybe an hour or so?

Yes! I always do when you can create characters in games. Even when I was simply playing through all of the Origins, I still took at least 10-15 minutes making a character that I would never see again.

Given the game arrives on a Tuesday I figure I will spend the rest of the week experimenting with the character creation before getting down to serious playing on the weekend. I think Bioware not providing a Character Creator ahead of time should qualify as torture.
