She was devastated and said things she didn't mean. Carver didn't act like a ''moron'', he protected his mother and ended up sacrificing himself.

Must be an idiot to try to solo an ogre...

He forgot to add those points in "defender" spec. Silly Carver.

Not if you succeed to a certain extent. But what was gained? They were 4 people, no need to go kamikaze on it.

Wow, just noticed that everyone addressed carver as the dying sibling. Guess not many people played mages in the demo.

It was her fault anyway. The ogre was obviously angry and wanted something to smash. Mama Hawke could have offered up herself, but nooooooooo

yeah but why blame hawke?

Agree. She was the only one within arm's reach of Carver.

It's like me dropping a plate in the kitchen and then walking to my brother in the living room and saying "HOW COULD YOU LET THAT PLATE BREAK?!"

Grieving is no excuse, PlayerHawke just lost his brother too. It's not like Carver was just some random person to him/her.

Tell your lazy brother to catch it next time. It's all your fault.

Seriously, it's not my fault the battle mechanics turned off just in time to have bethany die by an attack that normally wouldn't take all her hp!

Carver was the example used so we all went with it. :P

There is also greater satisfaction when the Ogre roflstompes Carver, as opposed to Bethany.

I do wonder if this will affect how Mama Hawke treats Hawke throughout the rest of the story.

Does she remain bitter and continue blaming Hawke for the death of Bethany/Carver?

Does she forgive Hawke?

I wouldn't go that far as to calling Carver's death satisfactory... I mean.. I haven't known the guy nearly long enough to dislike his character. But I prefer Carver dying instead of Bethany though. (Even though Hawke's mom sounds more distraught upon her death, her reaction to carver's death is somewhat.... understated)

Btw... anyone noticed Hawke's mom and teryna Eleanor Cousland (your mom in dao human noble origin in case anyone forgot) share the same voice?

There is nothing to forgive tbh. I didn't push him/her in front of the ogre. Momma Hawke is just having a bad case of Ability Drain: Intelect.

@Robhuzz

Yes they share the same voice actor.

Some of you should never talk to a griving person, you have all the tack and emotional intelegance of an angry walrus.

I actually wanted to slap MotherHawke when she blamed my character for Bethany's death.

I hope I can mention that later when the old hag is living in my Hawke's house. If she is.

Yeah I was kinda shocked when she started blaming me for their death.

o.O what?! why would she blame Hawke she was face first in the dirt when it all happened.

I wonder if she will blame Hawke for the rest of the game and betray them towards the end for Beth/Carver dying. . .

She just needed someone to take the blame so she could vent her anger and depression from running with arthritis at her old age and standing uselessly in the corner when you are busy fighting the darkspawn. Didn't you see how she covered her face after you met Aveline and Wesley? Then she just dragged herself behind the group after watching the blighted scenery when Hawke decided to go South, but before that she was mentally battling herself, trying to decide whether to put an end to all of it and jump off the cliff or not. Give the poor old woman a break.

I never said it really was your fault. But your mother isn't thinking logically at that point; her son/daughter just died and she's stressed out anyway about the darkspawn and Lothering. She lashes out because she's upset.

Like Mama Hawke? Blaming her son for her other son's death.

Yeah she leashes out at the people who are also her children and were not to blame and could have been just as dead 5 minutes later. I don't say that I don't understand why she did it, just that you have to be a pretty ignorant person ...

I liked the when they spelled "tact" as "tack" and "intelligence" as "intelegance".

Also. I kind of wanted to stab the **** after she started yelling at me. Figured the best thing to do instead was to approach the situation with humour. That was almost as evil.

Hawke was also grieving, not to mention trying to get his/her whole family to safety. Hearing something like that might be enough to just knock the fight out of some people, especially because she never retracts the statement.
