Do you think you'll still play DA:O after they release the sequel?

I have played it through about 15 times, done everything possible and I have to say it is starting to get a tad tedios and boring.

Maybe after playing DA2 I will go back, but at this stage no.

*reinstalls Ultima* **** this new age crap.

Do the Ultima games really install?  The first three just launched from a floppy.

JRPG stands for Japanese RPG. Like Final Fantasy.

Final Fantasy is an RPG ? :o

They've been calling it an RPG for the last 24 years. Did something change?

I've practically stopped playing DA:O already, simply because four run-throughs was enough for me. I'm not saying I won't go through it again, but it's not something I'm planning at the moment. Maybe something in DA2 will make me try a playthrough where I try to get a certain ending.

**** yes. I played the demo, died a little inside, then went back and started a new playthrough in DA:O and it helped me recover.

I just checked my last played - Jan of 2010, 393 hours played, all origins completed with all possible endings. Time for a new DA :D

Nope. Same reason I don't go back to Mass Effect 1. After experiencing the sotry over 15+ times all I have is the combat. If say Mass Effect 1 or DA:O was updated with the sequels changes then ofcourse (Don't see that happening)

What they've been calling it has nothing to do with what it is.

*nods* Leveling up does not an RPG make.

Probably not for a while. After the excruciating final playthrough I did to prepare for DA2, where I completed just about every quest I could find plus all the DLC and spent painstaking hours modifying my PC in the editor to get him just right, I don't think I could handle another run through for a long time.

What???

I still replay games I first played 10 years ago. Why wouldn't I? I've only played through DAO twice, same with The Witcher, Mass Effect 2, Fable, KOTOR2, Alpha Protocol and I intend to keep replaying them at least once every 5-10 years till I die.

Besides, EVERYTHING I've heard about DA2 makes me think DAO will be faaaaaaaaaar better

Okay, so you are saying, 24 years ago, Final Fantasy tacked itself falsely on the RPG definition.

Then provide an example (more THAN ONE would help) other than Ultima that defined RPG.

As long as the put out a DA2 toolset, I don't think i'll ever need to go back to DA:O.

Yessir:

I got a PC playthrough to finish, not to mention a number of achievements

Still need to play through Awakening and Origins with a character I just made

Might play a Human Mage to feed my Arcane Warrior curiosity

Achievements on console again

I'm never playing that game again. I would love to experience the story of the expansion pack, but I don't feel I have the time to play games unless I'm completely stoked and loving every minute, and that's just not happening with DA:O. The console version is just too frustrating. The controls are straight up bad. If it was any other game with average story I would have stopped playing after a few hours. That's why I'm looking forward to DA2 so much. Looks like I won't have to suffer this time.

Well, RPGs, by most definitions, involve a certain degree of choice when it comes to progressing the story. My experience with Final Fantasy is that you have about as much choice as in Halo.

Then to back up your statement, please provide an example other than Ultima that defines RPG and predates Final Fantasy.

No I don't. I only played DAO ones and that was enough for me. I mean it was nice game to play ones, but not really for me. As for DA2, I'm not even sure if I buy it, because DAO did not mean so much for me.

Actually nevermind. I was going to say "SSI Gold Box" series, but they came out at the same time as Final Fantasy, not before it.

Did you know 1987 came before 1996? Just curious.
