Then I might do an evil snarky female mage or rogue.

Keep in mind that there is nothing wrong with males playing female characters or female gamers. This is just fact that males play male characters and the majority of people will play what they can relate to closest. For most people, they relate most to their own gender.

My thoughts exactly, although male hawke is a bit more berable than male shepard.Carlthestrange wrote...
I found that the Femhawke had a lot more emotion to her voice than Male Hawke... my god, it was male Shepard all over again. Sounding like an android.
I'll likely play both, but start with Femhawke.

That would be amazing. To tell a deeper and more immersive story by focusing on JUST ONE character. I love it!supremebloodwolf wrote...
I'd laugh if bioware decided to give us a predetermined gender in DA3 becuase more people played as femhawke.

And yes, from what I've seen in the forums it wouldn't be weird if more people completed a Lady Hawke playthrough.

Lady Hawke is awesome, but not more so than Hale's FemShep.
I played exclusive FemShep on ME. I'll play both for DA2.

It'd be awesome if they marketed with a female if more players played FemHawke, but alas, it won't be happening.

I kinda find a female as the protagonist more interesting than a male (maybe because it's a rarity in games with a predetermined character). It's also far more fun when being a violent dick (which is my preferred attitude in Bioware's games)

I'm hoping this will be the first Bioware game where the majority of players play as a female protagonist. Usually in Bioware games the vast majority of players play as the male protagonist, but for some reason I get the feeling that a lot of people (at least here on the boards) are going female protagonist for this game.
Bioware should have stats on this from the demo, so tell us!
Not only will more people play MHawke first, but more people will play MHawke period

The only problem is I always make my character look as much like me (male) as possible, so she's gonna be one disturbing looking lady, especially if i can get a beard on her

i'll have multiple playthroughs of both.
Indeed. Unless the question is narrowed to first playthroughs, my only answer to "Female or Male?" is "Yes." Almost any Bioware game worth multiple playthroughs - so Bioware games
For the first playthrough, still undecided. The demo didn't leave me with strong opinions, so it will probably remain that way until I sit down to play and decide based on mood or whatever. (Honestly, I'm having a harder time deciding on Mage vs. non-Mage, now that I know from the demo what an effect that will have.)
Thinking over past RPGs, I probably play male first more often, as I tend to shape a character around myself and my own reactions the first time through rather than playing a role. Still, there's a significant minority for which I played female first, DAO included.
