I never did understand this rivalry between the genders...
But, as always, I'll stick to playing male characters.

i prefer to play as a female don't know why just find it boring to play as a male although i do play fallout as a male but thats the only game (the ones where you have a choice)

Personally since I myself am I female I will first play as a female Hawke. I still wanna play a male Hawke so all in all it doesn't really matter which you decide to play first as long as you have fun no matter the gender. :)

I'll be playing Garrett 99% of the time and maybe one playthrough with Marian. I've always played as male characters in DA:O so I guess that won't change. That and Garrett delivers the serious lines way better than Marian. Her sarcastic/aggressive lines don't sound imposing at all.

Have you heardFemale Hawke Warrior's "Bravery" sound?

Oh my god. It sounds like she's passing a kidney stone! 0_0

That's one way to look at it I suppose!

It won't even be close. There is a significant number of people who play woman characters in Bioware games, but still not nearly as many as that play as male ones.

I will start by playing as a guy, and then probably deviate to Ladyhawke for future playthroughs. I think my 'canon' continuation will be done as a Ladyhawke, which I started as a male Cousland, now Prince-Consort.

I stuck to FemShep in ME and ME2 because I'm not a fan of Male Shepards VA. But Male Hawke's VA sounds pretty damned good so will probably be starting with a male.

Being a male I identify better with my own gender, I always go male, picking female just makes me feel disconnected. That's not to say I don't enjoy or identify with games that have a female protagonist, like Beyond Good and Evil.

First off I did not want to play a female because I'm a male but after seeing her face and voice my third playthrough will be fem hawke rogue.

This.  If it's something like Tomb Raider or a fighting game, then I don't mind at all, but in this type of game I prefer my own gender.

As people have stated, although Fem Hawke seems popular on these forums, I don't think this is a good representation of the gaming population.  People here tend to be civil, for one...

Im going to do my first play through as male, second as female. One reason is because I'm a trophy freak and there is a possibility of trophies for romances like Dragon Age Origins, and I'm sure there will be characters who you can romance regardless of sex, but of course there will be characters for only one gender.

I'm doing a play through as a femhawke and another as male, not really doing one over the other, but I expect to have a different experience with both.

I'd probably play both myself but to answer the question. I honestly doubt less than 40% of the overall player base will be something other than default male warrior. Just like in Mass Effect where a very high % of players played a default male soldier.

On this website it seems like 70%+ are females so girl hawke will have the bigger fan base and they will all bash Man Hawkes VA nonstop like they do to Shepard.

I'm male, but where the option is available I've always played the female protagonist, the male has always been cliche to me in games.
