I prefer a male protagonist. Because Male Hawke is MANLY (that's cool). :)

But I don't mind playing femHawke on my second or third play through. She is very pretty.

FemHawke's VO impressed me right away. MaleHawke sounded about what I thought he would.

FemHawke first playthru.

I'll play both, but I tend to play more female than male characters when I've got the option.

I am a guy but I will play through with fem hawke at least first. Maybe its just that most games have male leads that it makes me want to use a female character when given the option. Also IMO I think fem hawke is very cute.

I'm starting out with a Male Hawke, mostly because I know how hard it will be not to just choose Lady Hawke every time. With Origins I've still yet to finish a playthrough as a male Warden.

Male Hawke the first time through. It will take a few days for me to make some decent nude mods. Then Stripper Hawke. After that it will depend on what class I want to play as. Obviously I can't have a naked chick wielding a giant axe... that's just silly.

I'll likely play a guy my first run. I thought I'd hate the Malehawke VA but I didn't mind him in the demo.

I prefer making female characters in RPGs for whatever reason. I don't really consider my character "sexy" or something, I just grow more attached to female PCs than male ones. I generally make my male characters sarcastic or rude (although not generally evil) and my female characters heroic, honorable and diplomatic.

I'm male, and will primarily play female Hawke, I've alwasy been more into female heroes, but I like what I've heard of the male voicactor, so I'll probably try that once.

I'm hoping this will be the first Bioware game where the majority of players play as a female protagonist.  Usually in Bioware games the vast majority of players play as the male protagonist, but for some reason I get the feeling that a lot of people (at least here on the boards) are going female protagonist for this game.

Bioware should have stats on this from the demo, so tell us!

Bioware certainly isn't pushing for something like that. We got more female Hawke stuff than female Shepard, but that's still an unequal amount of marketing between the genders.

Maybe it's just me, but I always felt that Mass Effect was suited to a male protagonist, while Dragon Age was suited to a female protagonist, still feels that way to me too. It's why I'm hoping the main character in the DA anime movie funimation is making will be female.

I rarely play fem, but I am here. She is just too badass + sexy to ignore. Sorry maleHawke, you can't compare, not with that voice at least.

I'd probably play both myself but to answer the question. I honestly doubt less than 40% of the overall player base will be something other than default male warrior. Just like in Mass Effect where a very high % of players played a default male soldier.

On this website it seems like 70%+ are females so girl hawke will have the bigger fan base and they will all bash Man Hawkes VA nonstop like they do to Shepard.

Nah I think there are more guys than girls here on this forum. Its just a lot of the guys use girl avatars. It can get pretty confusing sometimes.

Not to mention female hawke players seem to have the need to let everyone know that's who they play with sigs while male hawke players don't.

Whoa, bitter.  I don't get the glorifying of PCs, either- signatures and fan threads and all that.  Seems very Freudian to me, or something.  Self-love.  lol  But the reason that female players do this, I guess, is that it's not taken for granted you can play a female PC.  So those who prefer to play a female like to show their support.

And I bash mShep's VO because I genuinely don't like it.  I could never play an entire game talking like that.  Normally I'm harder on female voices, so this isn't a man hate thing.  I like male Hawke's VO about the same as the female and intend to play a male PC at some point, but only one of my some-dozen Wardens was male.  Just not as fun for me.

My first playthrough will probably be FHawke Rogue.

I tend to prefer strong female protagonists in fiction(books/tv/movies/videogames).

You know I really hate the person who created those FemShep sigs. They are all over the place! Oops. That was me. Sorry about that. ;)

On topic: Nah. I don't think there will be more female PCs this time. Would be nice for a change. Though my poll might surprise you. ;)

Right--this is an atmosphere in which maleness (of both the PC and players) is assumed to be the default, so female players actively support Lady Hawke at least partly so they will be visible.  Male players simply have the privilege of not having to care about this.

believe me when I say that the losers whiners "people" that comprise these forums equal less than .001% of the people who will play this game.
