No, it really doesn't.

Yes it really does.

Despite the fact that it's a work of fiction, it is set in medieval times. People were riddled with STDs back then because of the lack of clinical checkups and medicine. There were huge mortality rates from a lot of these STDs, for example: syphilis.

Mortality rates from pregnancy and child birth was also far higher back then than today.

So yes, being "sexually liberated" as you put it, in a time like that was reckless.

Yeah, but in Dragon Age they have magic :P
You simply cannot equate the DA setting with actual midevil life.  It is ridiculous.  Our fantasy genre fictions bear only a passing resemblance to what actual life was like during the middle ages, so trying to apply those sorts of arguments is pointless.

Unfortunately the original post that started this sub-discussion did not say

"There is no reckless sex in video games." or "There is no reckless sex in DA"

So for 2 months, people were complaining because she was "ugly" and now she's "too hot". It's like those tabloids where they circle a celebrity's "chubby" parts and in the next issue they circle what they believe to be fake.

Yeah, why no one remembers that long queue of pregnant women and men rubbing their itching genitalia in the mage origin in DAO, all patiently waiting for the mages to deal with their small problems.

But you're coming at that from the perspective of someone who likes a buxom-looking woman.  There are plenty of people calling her fat (which I find ridiculous, but there you have it).

Although she has big boobs, she is proportionate, with a big round butt, muscular thighs that would be the envy of any soccer player, and rounded, decidedly un-chiseled facial features that reinforce the idea that she is not skinny -- she is a voluptuous powerhouse of a woman.  There are plenty of guys, though, who like the slim, graceful, slender look who won't prefer her type.

Personally I like both, but hey, what can I say.  I am a connoisseur of all sorts of women :D
(Except BBWs :P)

If they use magical potions sold by the Circle (like the stuff they have in the Wonders of Thedas) that are for treating STDs,  then I'm willing to back down on the point.  :P

I personally find it pretty absurd that someone must be pursued and "conquered" to be an LI, as if sex always must always be the grand objective at the top of the mountain.  I've had long relationships with people that I slept with on the first or second date.  An actual relationship is about getting to know the person and get emotionally close to them, not just to sleep with them.

Come to think of it, the basic injury kits should take care of these. They sure are able to heal everything else.

I'm staying away from anything to do with Isabella's looks at this point. I'm predestined to like the brassy, bad-ass girl, so I'm already a fan.

My issue is the voice actor. Am I wrong or did the actor in DAO capture her better than what we've heard in the demo? She seems way to subdued.

My darling Reginald,
I burn for you and because of you. Please use the enclosed tincture if our love is to endure.

So yeah.  Magical tinctures.

Except you can't reckleslly enjoy sex, because it's proven to be good for you.

Wrong.  Syphillis, the only really dangerous STD in the pre-modern period, came from North America (which is why it has the nickname Montezuma's revenge".  In Medieval times, no syphillis in Europe.  We know nothing about the STDs in Thedas, there is no particular reason to believe they have syphillis, let alone AIDS.  For all we know they have no particularly serious STDs.  And, of course, they have magic.  If you can cure a sword slash to the gut, you might well be able to cure STDs.  High magic universes usually don't have much problem with non-magical diseases.

So she might as well have fun.

A world without STDs, I'd say that would be the greatest place to live but I know I still wouldn't get any.

To be fair, that's a problem with communicable disease, not sex itself.
Assuming that such things can be cured or prevented with minimal effort, the point stands.

Unfortunately the Circle had to withdraw their pregnancy and STD clinics after the Ferelden Medical Journal published a shock-horror article about "Lyrium babies". It was retracted after a fearless reporter exposed the covert Chantry funding behind the 'research', but by then it was too late... that's why no-one remembers.

Gee, it's interesting, how this disscusion turned from Isabela's pretty/smokin'/ugly/chubby face to syphyllis. And guy just asked whatever she looks better with a lot of makeup or almost no makeup.
