If DA2 is a refined, better game than origins, why is it getting lower scores?

Albeit, the scores are good ranging from 85 to 94 but Dragon Age Origins was a masterpiece in most peoples eyes with the score ranging from 90 to 100! (I don't trust the PC gamer review anyway as it came out so early when the game had'nt even gone gold) I want to know what the developers think of this, also.

Over and out.

The answer is obviously communism.

But really, what do you want? What do you expect to be told?

You shouldn't be paying so much attention to the average score anyway. Find one or a few reviewer you usually agree with, and stick with those.

Higher expectations? Exaggerated hype? Rushed development? Maybe it just isn't as good as Origins. We'll just have to wait and see.

a rating is just what someone thought, could be right or wrong, it has a different story telling model which may scare off some reviewers as they think more in a traditional sense, ala you visit the same cave three times! but its over 10 years, new spiders moved in. THREE TIMES! plus if you like it who cares what someone who gets paid for it thinks

You again? Okay, I'll give you the answer you want: Because obviously DA2 sucks major donkey balls. Okay? Happy? Can you please constrain your negativity to a single thread? Just call it "MorrigansLove's Rant Thread" and be done with it.

Which review gived DA2 an 83? I thought that there are four reviews: 85, 87,88, 94.

Where are you getting these other reviews? metacritic only lists one.

Because Dragon Age 2 is the single worst creation ever devised by human hands and the simple act of playing it is enough to leave a man broken and begging for death.

I mean, obviously.

Perhaps in changing certain features, others have suffered as a result and reviewers have determined this not to be to the game's net benefit, and maybe this will be rectified if they are to release a sequel to DA2. Perhaps the devs had a moment of horror where they realised the game was too good, and they had to remove stuff lest it blow our minds.

Perhaps different reviewers will feel differently about it, with some who will rank it higher than Origins and others lower.

Perhaps you're just looking for someone to say that DA2 is a terrible game because you require affirmation of your views on a regular basis. All are viable possibilities. ;)

Most of the reviewers probably won't play it in the same way as we do. I remember reading one review for Origins that basically called it a brown mess. I bet they didn't even get past Lothering. There was no mention of the hilarious party banter, interaction with companions. I bet all they did was click on the first dialogue option, skipping through all the words until they got to fight, which let's face it wasn't Origins' strong point.

PCGamer UK they are a bunch of tools, they do reviews on the DvD that comes with the mag and I'm hugely embarassed as a gamer to listen to them. I'd never take thier advice anyway anything "flashy" tends to get good scores.

My guess would be like most people here reveiwers were expecting Dragon Age II rather than Dragon Age Lite.

Ign and gameinformer gave Origins a 8.5 and 8.0 respectively, so it's scores ranged much lower than you stated.

DA2 is a sequel with a lot of changes, of course it's going to be rated lower than the original.  New Art style, gameplay changes, GUI changes.  I don't see what the big deal is.  Some games get in the 90's and I hate them, and other games get in the 50's and I love them.

Over and out.

Breaker Breaker, Roger Wilco 10-4. 73's.

You are right but Gameinformer still gave it an 8 and my point still stands.

Basing anything on 2-3 reviews is premature right now. I would wait for a larger sampling before drawing any conclusions.

Plus It really depends on the magazine though.  Personally I am waiting for Gamespot's review. As of late (as in the last few years) I find their review of RPGs match my personal opinion more than other sites (such as IGN).  So if they gave it a high score, chances are I will like it as well.
