I usually don't bother importing runes, you get two new tiers for runes plus all new armor runes so runecrafting is very useful ability. Also, you can respec your runemaker afterwards.

Recipes are in total values for that paticular rune level. You need all the recipes to make a Paragon rune.
1 Paragon = 32 novice runes, 63 blank, 56 etching (2 Masterpiece, 1 blank, 6 etching)
1 Masterpiece = 16 novice runes, 31 blank, 25 etching (2 Grandmaster, 1 blank, 5 etching)
1 Grandmaster = 8 novice runes, 15 blank, 10 etching (2 Master, 1 blank, 4 etching)
1 Master = 4 novice runes, 7 blank, 3 etching (2 Expert, 1 blank, 3 etching)
1 Expert = 2 novice runes, 3 blank (2 Journyman, 1 blank)
1 Journyman = 1 novice rune, 1 blank
So you can see why the is no point to bring over unnecessary runes, especially with so much gold on hand.
*cough*intensifing*cough* 3per weapon

So f*cking tedious.
not really, just simplify the process and buy 2 stacks of blanks, 1 etching. Then, if making paragon, buy the 32 novice runes. Less counting to go through, which is why I dont hold on to Origin Runes. That is what causes head aches. Once you simplify the process, it really isnt that bad. If youre a novice at it, the time consumed by the math alone can wear on you, especially if your main doesnt have at least one point in the skill because then you have to constantly leave the hall to get the unused character to simply check recipes. (rogues get enough skills so the PC can just runecraft without gimping yourself, I would consider respecing a PC 2x just so you dont have to leave the hall to craft. )

Does anybody know if runecrafting is in DA2.God I hope not.
I hope there is TONS of runecrafting that you HAVE to do in order to procede so you give up the game in a fit of rage just so I dont have to read through more of your worthwhile comments everytime I see the subject on these forums.
GOD, I LOVE RUNECRAFTING!

as long as you have the top 2 tracings, yes.
I would however suggest bringing your paralysis runes instead of elemental damage, the next levels are considerablly better with effects than a mere +2 more elemental damage. All of which is replaced when you get to making Intensifing runes. Best in the game by far.

Thanks for your mature and informative answer Baby.
Yes, like ANY of your posts in any thread concerning runecrafting. Notice ANY of my other posts, at all, by the way? I am a font of knowledge willing to help anyone who bothers to ask. You're a blip of ignorance.
Quit your whining.

Or you can do as suggested and respec when you do decide to rune craft so you can just stand there and get it done at the merchant. The storage chest makes room for you. Buying materials to make something, oh the horror of it.Stepping in and out of the hall, buying blanks and novices and etching stuff, running out of space in your inventory, oh it all got so boring.
I didn't mind runecrafting, but it was a bit of a chore, especially trying to keep track of how many blanks and etches you needed, and how many novices you needed to stockpile.
or you can just buy 2 stacks of blanks and etching, then sell the left overs when you're done. You have a lot of money in awakenings.
