I would advice all of you that gave floppy games to not throw them away or use them as coaster, but actually to donate them either a library or better yet a museum or an archive. It is important that the old games of yesteryear on floppy discs do not disappear. If they do, in 10 or 20 years time, we won't have any collective memory, i.e. real physical copies, of how games once were made.

On a related note, I still have the 5 disc version of BG1 I bought in 1999. And to me, this was also a big selling point. A game released on 5 cd's. Later on, I bought the BG1 DVD version...

Heh, appreciate the advice, I was kidding though. I love my old floppy disk games. Still have my Spectrum ZX tucked away somewhere. Crikey, I'm old!

KOTOR.

My friend spoiled the plot twist half way through. Apparently I made a very amusing face...

Like most 'o the others, KOTOR. Loved that series. Shame Bioware didn't make KOTOR 2. Might have had less bugs. And a slightly less depressing plot. :P

My first Bioware game was Balders Gate. I went to the local comupter shop (Since went out of bussiness) and was browesing the computer games wall. This was when they were HUGE. I noticed that golden skull, red eyes. I wanted it. First computer game purchase and I've never looked back. :o

Baldurs Gate was the first Bioware game for me. Bought it in 1999 when it first came out, I still have it sitting on my computer game shelf!

Lol, I'm very a noob. My first game was ... Dragon Age xD

That's where I enjoyed the rpg. I am a console player, formerly with the prejudices of console players lol. I had played only one, final fantasy. T___T

That game made me hate rpg, with its colors, its childish stories.

Everybody changes, especially if you fall on good games. Dragon Age game was so dark, visceral, so rich and complex. A stunning realism despite mediocre graphics for a console.

Then I heard of a game, Mass Effect, a friend told me much good. I was skeptical, then she told me something that made me decide to buy the game :

" Mass Effect is a bit like Dragon Age, and these are made by the same creators, BioWare. "

The day after I bought the game ... x'd

Mass Effect. I have no words to describe how this set thrilled me, made me tremble with excitement. Since I fell in love with Bioware.

Waiting patiently for Da2 now get new pleasures. I feel that my biggest hobby, I will create a character XD

I love that people get the same feeling now about Dragon Age/ Mass Effect that I have about Baldur's Gate. :wizard:

First BioWare game I played was KoToR, after it's PC re-release. Followed by ME1 (PC release), ME2, then DA:O and soon to be DA2.

I think I used to be on the forums back when there were boards for KoToR, then stopped, then came back when I got ME2

First Bioware game: Baldur's Gate

Year: 1998, I think (right around when it came out)

Why you started playing it: I'd been playing CRPGs on and off since 1989, so it it was normal for me to pick up a new D&D-based game.

Bioware forum join date: 18 Aug 2002. I didn't join until after starting to play Neverwinter Nights, and didn't become active until I started developing mods in 2006.

My advice about donating the old games you have to say an archive or a museum was a suggestion made for all of you that have these games - as well as the systems to play them on. I've seen a copule of threads in other forums (as well as here) we're people actually thought of throwing their old games away...

On a more related note, the demo for DA2 still shows that Bioware has stuck with the corridor level designs they first started using in BG2.

first BioWare game I played was Jade Empire. I've always been a fan of point and click adventure games but a few RPG/Adventure hybrids (namely Bloodnet) got me to look into RPGs as well, which inevitably led to BioWare. after completing Jade Empire a few times I bought Knights of the Old Republic 1 & 2, followed almost immediately by Baldurs Gate and Neverwinter Nights (thanks to ebay) and their sequels before discovering Mass Effect. while waiting for ME2 I tried to kill some time with Dragon Age and found that it wasn't just killing time but completely massacring it

Oh, i remember it fondly. Twas KOTOR. It was awesome. I played it through the night and beyond. I still play it from time to time. After that i sought out many more Bioware games and they where awesome. But KOTOR is still my favorite. It has a special place on my games shelf, honored and bereft of none of its original glory.

I started off with Neverwinter Nights and became largely engrossed with RPG's due to that fluke of boredom and a friend shoving me a game in my hands saying "here, I don't like it, but I think it may be your cookie".

I don't think I stopped playing until I played through NWN at least twice. And my hunger was sparked. I started backtracking BioWare, playing through Baldurs Gate, BG2, as well as the Icewind Dale series.

Typically, I was locked on the fantasy setting so much I completely overlooked KoTOR, shrugging it off like 'another Star Wars marketing trick, it's getting boring' - only when it was on sale years later I figured I'd pick it up, not realizing it was that same company behind it as all those RPG's I loved.

Since then I have bought every BioWare game when it was released, and actually, it's the one and only gamestudio I would buy a game from blindly, knowing it'll engage me for weeks if not months.

As for the forums: I made an account when I downloaded the DA:O character creator, though I'm still unsure if actually reading these forums was a good thing to start with. I guess one needs a certain measure of masochism to stick around here :innocent:

I played a little of Bioware's very first game, Shattered Steel, 1996! and a little BG and let's not forget MDK2... but I didn't become I diehard fan until NWN in 2002... the holy grail, a port of PNP D&D to the computer allowing me to play online over the interwebs! AWESOME!... I got into it because I had friends separated by distance who use to play D&D together and this was our solution.

Sadly the transistion away from tiles from NWN1 to NWN2 made it too time consuming for me to even contemplate making my own adventures and NWN2 never managed to muster the same massive vibrant community.

ME was the reason I bought my first console (XBOX 360, unless you count Ataris), ME2 shocked and scared me, though eventually grew on me, but IMO ME1 is still the better game.. DA:O (PS3) renewed my hope in Bioware, Awakenings made me cringe... and I'm waiting to see how DA2 stacks up!

I can't remember when I first joined the Bioware forums, probably 2001/2002 in the lead up to NWN release.

Not sure...I've had NWN2 for some years and tried it 3 times and got bored then given up. I only made it to the end of hte training mission the first time, but recently I made it quite a bit further - sadly I couldn't figure out how to keep the save for my new computer so I will have to start again when I replay it. My love for DA: O does make me want to give it another go but I think I need a different character type as I was constantly having problems getting knocked out last time - damn my lack of coordination, makes me a very poor gamer in fights!

I do not recall if I played any Bioware games, till Baldur's game came out. That game left such an impression on me, that I up to date consider it best of the best RPG.

Me and my buddie used to play Baldur's gate 2 at his house but i didn't really get into it. But the first bioware i played from start to finish was kotor which i absolutely loved and still do. Same thing with Jade empire it was love at first sight, but i did not know it was bioware who created it before later on. After i played Da i went back to play Baldur's gate 1 & 2.

The first was Baldur's Gate, which I liked very, very much, but the one I really felt in love with was its sequel, Shadows of Amn.
