OP answer: BG, whenever it came out. Liked the game OK, but wasn't really a fan of bioware until NWN - after they redeemed themselves with the underdark expansion, that is.
When did you start playing Bioware games?

I only briefly skimmed this thread, but where's all the love for MDK2?

Baldur's Gate 1, maybe a year after it came out. I'm glad I jumped on board early because, while I'm not sure if I could play through BG again these days (maybe I could, I haven't tried), it remains one of my fondest gaming experiences ever.
The graphics and gameplay are dated, no doubt, but if you can get past that you'll find a cleverly written RPG with a wonderful story and VERY memorable characters that are amazingly well-acted, especially considering that this was in a time when voice acting in video games was almost universally terrible. I brought the same character all the way through BG1, 2, and Throne of Bhaal, and I have to say that by the time I finished that game, I had been through so much with my companions and romances (literally going to hell and back with & for them) that reading the epilogues when the game was finally over made me tear up a little. It was a real sense of loss knowing that I wouldn't be going on any more adventures or having any more conversations with all these personalities who I had come to know and love. There is simply no other game developer that writes characters that bring about that sort of emotional attachment.
Frankly, I'm still kind of angry at them for what they did to Viconia :-/

But a few yeras later i heard from a game called mass effect developed by the same guys, so i bought it instantly. I'm hooked since then. Bioware makes exactly the games i like to play. I can't wait for da2

First Bioware game: MDK
Year: 2006
Why you started playing it: My best friend Tom brought it over and made me play it,
Bioware forum join date: 1/1/11 No joke, it's when I got Mass Effect/Mass Effect 2

Baldur's Gate, 1998 (or was it 1999?). Friend at school talked endlessly about how epic it was (and boy was he right).

KoTOR. Went back and tried NWN. Thought it was a poor game until I got to HoTU. Had some fun SP mods, though. Then played BG/BG2 to see what the hype was about. To say I found the games mediocre and dissapointing is an understatement.

First Bioware game I played was Baldur's Gate, which I hated. Then I played Icewind Dale, which I hated much less, but didn't much enjoy because I just didn't really understand how to play it.
Neverwinter Nights was the first game I played from them that I enjoyed.

Baldur's Gate was my first.
Great game, esp for a veteran of the "Gold Box" AD&D games of SSI. A real improvement, not that I didn't live those early games as well...

My first Bioware game was Dragon Age: Origins so I get lost when I'm on the forums and people start making references to NWN, BG, etc. So I'm still a n00b when it comes to Bioware

Baldur's Gate, numero uno -- but I didn't play it until the year 2000. Then BG2, Kotor, Kotor 2, Jade Empire.
I never really took note they were all Bioware (except Kotor 2) until after I had owned JE for awhile and noticed that Mass Effect was also by them.

Neverwinter Nights (2002). I was a console gamer during the time Baldur's Gate 1+2 came out.
I have played them by now, of course. And I have bougt every Bioware game that was released later.

Baldur's Gate. Some time after it's release, 2 years or something. Didn't finished it at the first playthrough, CDs were broken. Because of CDs I wasn't able to enter some locations, simple road to Nashkel turned into harrrdcore survival adventure.
Favorite- Baldur's Gate II, ME2
Least favorite: NWN, DA:O
