I don't know the year, it's was Baldur's Gate 1. I played Diablo 1 and Baldur's Gate 1 around the same time, so a pretty good year for RPG.

I am not a raving fan of "Dragon Age II", but I will entertain your curiosity.Lacan2 wrote...
Feeling very nostalgic tonight. After reading all the criticism/support for DA2, I'm starting to wonder what Bioware era the community in the DA2 forum is from. Not to criticise, just out of curiosity.
"Knights of the Old Republic" was my first BioWare game, and then it went...
"Neverwinter Nights"
"Jade Empire"
"Dragon Age: Origins"
"Dragon Age: Origins: Awakening"
"Dragon Age: Origins" Ultimate Edition"
I have other games in which BioWare has been credited, but I think it has to do with selling the rights to their game engines. "Knights of the Old Republic II" and "Neverwinter Nights II" were by Obsidian Ent, but BioWare was credited for the engine. I just threw out "The Witcher". BioWare is also on the box for that game.

Baldur's Gate. Played BG2 after that, then NWN. Never bothered with KotOR until after DAO, can't say I really liked KotOR or got the praise people give it, but that's difference of opinion for ya. Like ME1 and 2 for what they are, good fun games.

First game was KotOR. Played it late though. I went PS2 instead of Xbox but a family member had KotOR and I wanted it so bought the Xbox just to get KotOR.

I was a pretty late bloomer when it came to Bioware games most likely because I was never a huge PC gamer nor did I ever get into Star Wars and some how I just missed Jade Empire. I started back when the first Mass Effect was released and I've been hooked ever sense.

I was late to the game with NWN, started playing 04/05. I played on persistent worlds only. Either way, Bioware made something that has (and I said HAS because it still does) have such lasting appeal.
Then came ME. And Dragon Age. And so on. and on. and on.

Ha, way back to Baldurs gate. So much fun. Played BG2, Tob, KOTOR 1 and 2, Jade Empire etc. Didn't like NWN thoughs. Pretty much Mass effect and Dragon Age are my must follow series at the moment.

I was a KotOR baby. Metal Gear Solid was the first game to get me emotionally involved, KotOR was the second. Been addicted to story based games since.

Baldur's Gate when released. I still have the box and manual and all the sequels that followed it. It's one of my all time favorite series ever.

KOTOR. Played all Bioware games since. I have a spare xbox (not a 360) on hand so that when my good one dies, I set up the new one, and can still play KOTOR.

MDK2
For RPGs, Neverwinter Nights, really liked that one, then nothing until ME was released for PC.

My first Bioware game was Jade Empire on the original xbox...I can't remember what the year was though. I have probably played it at least 10 times. My favorite PC was named Radiant Jen Ze.
Later, I bought KOTOR and KOTOR 2 for my sons. They were/are big Star Wars fans. I'm really not, so I have never played them, but my boys keep telling me I should. I may at some point.
Next, it was Mass Effect games, then DAO. As long as they keep making great RPG's, I will remain both a customer and a fan.

Wasn't allowed to play many games growing up and just didn't in high school, so college was my first time discovering and getting into RPGs.
KOTOR was it for me. Got a sample of it at a friend's house when it came out for XBox in summer of 2003 (wow that feels long ago now). Eagerly waited and waited all fall for it to go Gold (can still remember Derek French telling the fanboys and fangirls to calm down--"it's done when it's done and for the last time it's not a port"--in thread after thread). Got it Christmas '03. Didn't work on my comp. Fortunately happened to get a new comp shortly afterward (long story). Pulled my first college all nighters in January of '04 after that, trying to beat all those darn Sith fighter encounters.
Edit: Join date: I know my profile says November 09 but that's not quite right. I actually joined sometime in the fall of 2003 (after lurking in the KOTOR PC forum for a while). I hung out mostly in the Off Topic section from 2004-2005 (Stanley Woo even wrote a jokey ode to me at one point!) and then in about spring 2006 went inactive for a while. Think that's what happened to my old profile, then.
After that, got very into Bioware. In order, that I can remember:
NWN--OC
NWN--Shadows, and Hordes (Never got into the multiplayer)
Baldur's Gate II
Baldur's Gate--ToB (never finished--KOTOR II came out and then my comp crashed)
DA:O
Mass Effect
Mass Effect 2
DA:A
It's been a fun ride--can't wait to see DA2!

Ooh, and Jade Empire after DA:A. I had a comp with a pretty bad graphics card from 2005 to the weekend before DA:O came out in fall 2009, so I had a lot of catching up to do in terms of RPGs when I got the new comp!
