Knights of the Old Republic

It was my favorite game back then. I still play it from time to time, in fact.

I don't remember the year, but it was probably about 6 or 7 years ago. I was hopelessly addicted to Diablo II for about a year and a half - seriously, I could not play anything else, I was doing 10pm to 8am overnighters, and I was obsessing about character builds and finding the next ungodly items.

Then I bought Neverwinter Nights. I don't know what it was, but after I played a bit of NWN, playing Diablo II again just became stale, shallow and boring. Neverwinter Nights cured my Diablo II addiction.

A Bioware game literally changed my life.

I played Baldur's Gate in 98 and fell in love with Bioware. I joined the forums way back before Bioware had their own forums. Either the Black Isle Stuidos forums got an upgrade at some point or there were forums before those(was pretty damned basic, might have been Interplay forums. This was before Baldur's Gate 2 was released). I joined the Bioware forums the first day they were opened.

Didn't expect that lol. NWN offical campaign set off a wave of anti-Bioware/3d sentiment on the official forums. Probably because it was coming off BG2 and everyone expected that level. There was like an Internet jihad of loyal fans bashing Bio for that one.

Redeemed with Hordes of the Underdark though. :P

2002 - Neverwinter Nights. But I went and played Baldur's Gate 1/2 somewhere during 2003. So... Almost a decade ago, damn. I feel old.

Baldur's Gate and pretty much everything they have released since (svae the Jade series and ME 2).  My first ever RPG was Eye of the Beholder.  Which looked like this:

KOTOR.

Rented it, then ended up loving the game (still do), and was a Bioware consumer ever since.

First Bioware game: Baldur's Gate

Year: 2006

Why you started playing it: I never tried RPGs before, but I had had a lot of game theory by that point and just couldn't get into strategy games anymore. (I concluded graphics didn't matter to me... until I tried NWN. that was painful)

Rented DA:O on a whim from Blockbuster one day and fell in love. Seriously, the time and money I've spent on Bioware games is insane. That said I have complete faith in DA2 because they really haven't dissapointed me yet. (Witch Hunt included)

Bought my first computer in 1998 specifically to play Baldur's Gate. I own every Bioware game since then.

I started out with Baldur's Gate back when I had no clue what Bioware was. Back then I was a big Black Isle fan, so I bought BG after playing about a gazillion hours of Fallout. At first I was a little turned off of Baldur's Gate because of its draconian second edition dnd rules overwhelming my young fragile little brain (THAC0?!?! Less armor class is better?!?!). After a while I actually found out what was going on with the combat system and that game sealed the deal for me on RPGs for the next 12-13 years.

I still have Baldur's Gate around, unfortunately I didn't put CDs away too much so it's literally everywhere around the house. :P

My first BioWare game was Baldur's Gate, which my brother got for Christmas at the end of 1998. Which, now that I think about it, must have been the same Christmas that my present was Grim Fandango. That was a hell of a good Christmas for video games in my house!

I started with Dragon Age: Origins. I liked that so much I tried Kotor and really enjoyed it. Then I tried ME1, and didn't enjoy it enough to finish it. Hate having a voiced protagonist and the dialogue wheel.  Currently playing Baldur's Gate. Not enough character interaction there for me, but I've heard the Baldur's gate 2 is where that really gets good.

I might not have found Dragon Age at all if I hadn't been playing Divinity 2 and a game site hadn't had something about both of them on the same page. Read the review and it sounded like just the thing. And it was!

It is. TBH I haven't replayed BG in a long time, mainly becaus BG2 was such an all-round masterpiece it was hard to go back.

Baldur's Gate. Admittedly most of my best memories came from BG2. My jaw dropped open when Irenicus WTFBBQed the Shadows Thieves and then the Cowled mages in the game's opening. Ahh memories..... After completing Throne of Bhaal I felt depressed because it was all over.
