KOTOR on the xbox. Hated it, I did not have that taste of game that I do now. I replayed it a while back, and loved it.
When did you start playing Bioware games?

I remember (this was back when I was in secondary school, mind) going to the Compucentre (now defunct) and paying the full price of the game so I could 'preorder' a copy, a practice that was rather less common than it is now. I can still recall the look of the receipt and how excitedly I tore open that box as my dad drove me home. Got home, installed the game, played through the first couple of hours of the game - and then got eaten by giant bug monsters.
Took me forever to get past that point. I do remember seeing the intro cinematic when you go to the Friendly Arm Inn and thinking (likely for the first time) 'I want to make video games.'
Bought every BioWare game since then. Probably spent the most time with NWN, if only because my friends also bought copies and we played through the OC in multiplayer a couple of times. We had our own version of the game, entitled 'See How Many Times We Could Get Our Friend To Open The Obviously Trapped door'.
Ahh, memories.

BG1 and BG2 is nostalgia for me. Taking into account that I played both games for years before I burned out on them. I still have them on disc in my stuff to play again someday and I probably will. I tend to pull out old games every so often and reload them. That is if Windows 7 will let me load them... But I doubt I can find the mods I had at this point. Specially some of the BGII mods. We had enough time to really make some fantastic ones over all of those years.
Same with the Icewind dale stuff. Though I didn't get into mods with Icewind dale. That game was enjoyable purely on it's own and had some inklings of story changing just on my class combinations of my party.
Black Isle and Bioware built a legacy in some ways when it came to storytelling and for me they still manage to live up to it in their games. They've always done a great job at putting much more into them than was needed to just play the game. Tons of lore to find. plenty of background info to read. Even in settings from other places that they didn't have to include in their games. The musty libraries that felt like Musty Libraries.
In Fact that was my one sad point from what I heard about DAII in an interview from a couple days ago. They took out things like the books on the floor in the musty library of the Tower and the Ruins for the Ashes quest. Those are part of what made the world what it truely was to me. And Yes. I noticed that stuff. I wished I could pick up some of the books in a couple of those places or other items that were just put there just to add to the environment.
The ME games I love and they do a great job of giving that same kind of feel but in a much more Sci-Fi setting. ME3 has a lot to live up to for me and i will definitely be pre-ordering it as well in the coming months.

My first Bioware game? Baldur's Gate 2...loved it so much that I must have played through it about seven or eight times! I don't think I joined the forums until the Neverwinter Nights days, though...

Dragon Age: Origins
I did try to go back and play BG games and KotOR. I enjoyed them, but was not able to finish, because apparently my computer hates every single game that is not an RTS. Bloody devil spawn.

First Bioware game: Dragon Age: Origins
Year: December, 2010
Why you started playing it: I was looking for a game with a good story to play in my Xbox 360. I saw a playthrough video and was pretty curious about the story/characters. Best decision I've ever made.
I guess I'm a Bioware n00b around here but Dragon Age has hooked me mercilessly. Mass Effect is cool too but I don't like FPS. Shocker, since I own a 360 <_< but I'm also really looking forward to DA2.
Edit:
I play all kinds of games and enjoy many genres. I really don't descriminate but I never pre-order. Dragon Age 2 is my FIRST pre-order. I'm gonna keep this in my gamer heart.

You know.....I'd group all Bioware fans into 3 tiers.
1st gen. - Those who started out with Baldur's Gate or NwN.
2nd gen. - Those of us who played KotOR or Jade Empire first.
3rd gen. - And finally, those who played ME or DA first.
I guess that makes me a gen. 2 Bioware fan.

Baldur's Gate. Liked it at the time a lot. Then played BG2 and Neverwinter, and all its subsequent games, which I enjoyed just as much, if not more. Recently went back to BG2, and though I still liked the story, I can't get into that tactical micromanagement crap anymore.

Knights of the old republic in 2003, I didnt like RPG's at all before KOTOR (tho later on when I got wiser I realised the games that I didnt like were infact hack&slash games and I had tought they were the only RPG's),
my friend bought it so I decided to give it a try since Ive allways been a big star wars fan and borrowed it,
I loved it and later on I bought it from my friend who didnt like it much, so yeah its fair to say that KOTOR introduced me to RPG's

1998. I was thirteen, had been playing D&D for a while, and picked up Baldur's Gate on the recommendation of a friend in my gaming group who said it was just like the tabletop game. I've bought every PC original from BioWare within a month of its release. KotOR, I got after it came to the PC, but I don't remember how long after.
I didn't get into Mass Effect until ME2 was on the eve of its release. I remember having some money on hand, and it was so highly spoken of, so I got the digital copy from the EA Store. I liked it enough to buy ME2 the day it came out. It was still a few days before I played it though, because I couldn't play it until I had beaten the first game =P
My favorite BioWare game so far is Shadows of Amn, without a doubt. I don't have the nostalgia for the game itself that some people do. It's not BioWare's fault, because it really does play just like the tabletop game. But AD&D sucked. I'll not get into the quality of the various D&D rulesets here, though. No, what makes SoA so special that I can (and am, right now) play it again and again is that it's the absolute best story I've ever experienced. Nothing compares. The only thing that's come close is KotOR II, and it had a host of other issues that came with it.
Gameplay-wise, Origins would be my top BioWare game, though from the demo, it looks like DAII might take that spot. Everything the sequel's done, gameplay-wise, has been a substantial improvement over Origins. I had more fun with the battle against Hayder than I did against the High Dragon in Origins.

If I lose my weekend to BG, I blame all of you.

My first Bioware game was KOTOR. I didnt' even have an X-Box at the time, but those amazing commercials were so awesome, it inspired me to get an X-Box and KOTOR, and sweet mercy was I not disappointed! It was the most awesome game I had ever played, I loved the incredible graphics, the super duper deep storyline, the romance with Bastilla, the ability to play as the Light Side or the Dark Side, male or female (I never played female characters before KOTOR, and I only did it to try to keep things fresh and new so I could keep playing this awesome game without it getting repetitive, now I almost never play male characters, as female characters are just so much more fun) the incredibly beautiful scenery of the various locations in the game, just so many of the incredibly interesting and unique side-quests, it was just an incredible game. I've played and enjoyed quite a few Bioware games since then, BG and BG2, JE, DAO, ME and ME2, and of course the DA2 Demo if that counts
but it all started with KOTOR for me, just a super duper awesome game.

I played Baldur's gate first.. But I was super young and I really didn't get it. It was like impossible for me at that age, or atleast impossible to keep me occupied.
I picked up KOTOR though, and Bioware became like a dynasty for me. Jade Empire, to Mass Effect 1+2, DA:O, soon to be DA2.
I never bothered to pick up Sonic though, or the NWN games. And later, at much urging to play BG, I went back and completed it. I've never played BGII though, despite wanting too. Noone sells it anymore I don't think.

I started with Baldur's gate. Like many in this thread I was too young to truly understand what I was playing, but loved it anyways.
Hell I had a rod of polymorph squirrel and that cloak that charmed people, I would go into the city and just spend an hour or two polymorphing and charming guards to fight as my squirrel knights.

Started with Kotor when I was young and had an Xbox then Jade Empire. When I got older I saw Mass Effect and saw that name BIOWARE and I watched it for years in E3, online game sites and when it came out on 360 I had to pkay it and I was amazed. Then when it was announced for PC I built my first PC to play games and bought every other Bioware game to play until the day Mass Effec PC came out.
Bioware pretty much turned me on to PC gaming and now that I am a bit older I love it. I am slowly turning my friends to PC gaming also! Dragon Age Origins especially keeps them stuck on their computers since it's moddable. I remember the first time I played Oblivion on PC with a crapload of mods I was amazed.
Currently I play DAO and ME2 waiting for DA2. Bioware, I love you guys! I been playing old RPG's also such as Fallout 1 and Baldur's Gate....these games are harder then most games today!!!

Better than Mass Effect*. That's as far as I'm willing to go
*And I really liked Mass Effect. Saying it's the worst BioWare game doesn't mean that it's a bad game at all. BioWare's just cool like that.
