I was going to post this in one of the PC threads but they're getting pushed out of the way too fast.  I'm focusing on the Interface:

Generally, the PC interface is unresponsive and erratic:

1)  Select [V] to toggle interface, then select another party member using [F2-F4]  ----> Pressing any quick slot after this process has no effect:  The interface must be toggled once more to associate quick slots with the character.

2) On level up (any character) select [C] to bring up the character screen or press on Hawk's picture.  If the levelling character is not Hawk, and the player selects another character picture to level up that character, the interface dumps us back to game.  Currently the character to be levelled must first be selected and then the character screen entered.  Occasionally the interface operates correctly but the stable method is as described.

3)  Tactics screen has all sorts of wrongness going on.  Too much to list.  But basically it doesn't function at all without heavy baby sitting.  It is not currently possible to build rule sets without quiting the tactics screen after each alteration to each rule.

4)  With the interface toggled off, when entering cut scenes the interface occasionally pops back up and severely breaks immersion.  It also forces itself on after combat and when loot is available.  Again this breaks immersion.

I hope all of these issues are resolved in the release version.  To offer some constructive criticism.  Given the drive at a cinematic experience the interface is not fluid enough for players to play without the interface overlay (this can greatly increase immersion).  Quickly cycling through NPCs is not possible -- currently I have had to program macros to perform this function.

I can see potential to play this game in real time whilst retaining tactical elements  (via the tactics screen and memorising quick slots).  It's a shame that this interface has not been designed to be a more fluid experience.

Cheers.

I had some of the same issues.

I had such a severe time getting the tactics menues to work, the click box is either to small to register or the graphic is missing in either case the sweet spot is too small and if you miss it resetting the tactics is difficult. I finally just wound up turning them off which defeats the whole point.

As the OP pointed out dealing with characters leveling up was also tricky as if you did not follow the procedure pointed out by the OP it could not be done.

Targeting boxes of the mobs or spells is off as well. Trying to cast a fire ball at an enemy or even a single seemed situational. trying to cast a fire ball at an ogre sometimes i could select the ogre and cast it, sometimes i had to use it as AOE even with clear lines of sight.

Something i think that has always been missing is the ability to make templates for tactics that are saved over the account as opposed to the character. Seriously, all my characters have a few common tactics regardless of class.

Like a tank tactic;

Target of main character/ Attack

Self health less than 25%/ use health potion

Self surrounded by 2 or more enemies / taunt

Target attacking Wynne (heals) / Shield bash

Like heals Tactic;

Ally health less than 50% / heal

Ally health less than 25% / group heal

Self mana less than 25% / use lyrium potion

Self health less than 50% / use health potion

These tactics are used by every character who is assigned to the respective role with a few minor changes here and there as the game progresses and new talents are unlocked. What i would like to see is the ability with my first character to make a tactic for a few classes and then use the same template for character play 2. My point is that after 22 DAO plays there are certain tactics thet will be used repeatedly, so that when i set up a tactics routine for the first play through, when i start plat through two i just use the template from the first play through instead of having to redo the tactics for every play or character who fits the job the tactics are set up for.

All in all though i found the experience an enjoyable one aside from these two major issues with the interface, something that may need to be cleaned up prior to release or patched ASAP upon release.
