All I can tell that there is a lot of anger on the interwebs, and some people like to angle the anger and hatred towards something they dont like, say change, and voila inst-hate threads for everybody.

"True spiritual successor" is a pathetic mystifying word.

It's a way of asking for BG3 without saying BG. Many fans saw DA:O as exactly that, but it sadly came short. Then we hear about DA2 and think to ourselves "Maybe they will fix the issue and it'll be what we had hoped for!" but no... it went the completely wrong direction everyone wanted and alienated that fanbase.

The comment about Bioware being the one scared of RPGs is sadly true.

I'd much rather BioWare make me a sandwich than that.

I dream of a world where people don't generalize the opinions of themselves and the people who share their interests to 'everyone'.

I also tend to dream quite a bit of fighting ghosts in abandoned shopping malls, but that's neither here nor there.

No, but Mac users are more affluent and better educated than PC users.

Mac users are smug elititis looking down upon those who paid half for twice the machine-power. Wouldn't call buying something excessively overpriced due to it being a fashion. It's more a s sign of mediocre money spending.

If you are insinuating you dislike BG2 then this just may devolve into fisticuffs.

Also for reference about the "spiritual successor" a recent one was Bioshock. It was the spiritual successor to System shock 2. It wasn't as good, and the end game totally failed, but much like DA:O, it was a good try.

I don`t get why everyone hates on the combat being totally different when the mechanics are the same. It plays exactly like Origins, just this time your character is faster to do it. I actually think this might make the game harder (which I think it needed to be) because everything will be more fast paced instead of what Origins had.

Knee jerk reaction I guess?

I will admit I did have a moment of “WTH is this?” when playing the demo for the first time but once I got over that I realised that yes it is pretty similar to origins only faster paced (which is very good IMO. Origins was too slow), you can actually dodge and AOE is no longer tracking for you (which is also good). Still not overly fond of how flashy the combat is but I’m getting use to it and  as I have said that is personal taste. It doesn't make the game bad, its just not my cup of tea.

'Thanks for ruining RPGs', however, is rarely a valid or useful criticism.

We've given you plenty of useful criticism, but you've chosen to shrug it off.

And what's with Bioware and occult symbolism?

I haven't heard anyone ask for a BioWare to do a equal to the Quest for Glory series. However, I'd support it if they did so.

My Quest for Glory!! I love the series to death. I never miss any of it. If only Sierra ... ah well..... .
I'm with you on this. :P

No, but it sounds pretty awesome. Do you win or is it like you're the cheerleader going into the dark basment?

We've certainly had A LOT of negativity around here, though. I can't say I'm surprised about the responses.

Woot!

If you ever feel nostalgic, you might want to look at Quest for Glory II VGA. It's a licensed version of the game with updated graphics that runs on Windows.

People who ask for a BG3 strike me as people who haven't actually played the seried to completion.

I live my life with the constant disappointment that the Masons are likely the closest I'd ever be able to get to joining the Illuminati.

And we read all the feedback we get - whether we choose to implement it or not is a different story, of course, though I'd say that claiming we 'shrug it off' is rather premature. Simply because we didn't implement your feedback in DA2 does not mean we didn't look at it, nor does it mean we won't look at it for future projects.

Your mileage may vary, of course, and you're welcome not to believe me.

I'm starting to believe that fighting the undead in malls is becoming a modern ancestral memory thing. It's zombies for me, but I know at least three other people IRL that have dreams about the undead in malls and supermarkets.

Uh. Off topic. Sorry.

I dream of a world where devs actually answer concerns that make games more or less unplayable due to an insanely small text size because they repeated the mistake of assuming everyone has a 60" HDTV.

I wonder which dream will come true first?

So far from what I have seen, Dragons Age 2 is better than Origins in every way. I will admit that the darkspawn look a little silly, and the game is a bit more cartoonish which I do not like. I prefer a more mature theme. But the combat mechanics and gameplay are significantly improved. As for the story, equipment, game length, fun factor, and other variables who knows. I just know I like combat way more in this game.

A fair question! Though I can tell you that I've passed this concern along to the appropriate people. Unfortunately, my job is far enough removed from that sort of thing that all I can do is go to their offices and say 'hey, guys, psst. Remember that thing.'

One of the posters claims basically that pc gamers are more likely to go to college than console gamers... Sounds like elitism to me :/

How much do you want to bet that poster still lives with his parents?

I'm not really surprised though. Not saying anything but europeans tend to be "purists" when it comes to RPGs

Just like asians love grindy MMOs, Europeans love over inflated RPG systems

I'm not sure what's the deal with the text in DA2. ME2 text was extremely small on my screen, but DA2 is still very much readable, if slightly smaller than DA:O's.

By the mid way point of the game it had lost all form of horror and became an exercise in facerolling.

I'd call that a failure considering System Shock 2 is one of the scariest games of all time.
