Have you ever tried Guild Wars? I hear it'll play similarly to that. I could be wrong, my MMO "expert" friend can be a ****** :?

Comparing DAO origins with DA2 "tutorial", I can say that they are both very easy games on Normal.

And who said anything about difficulty-I meant the multiple choices in dialogue, the rich background, multiple outcomes of actions, vibrant personalities.
Here you have combat in a corridor.

What do you mean by "multiple oucome of actions"? In the HN there is only one way to resolve this. Same in the dalish elf and dwarf commoner origins. You can choose to side with Jowan in the magi origins, but there isn't any different outcome. The same for the dwarf noble. The only origins which has some different thing is the city elf, because if you accept money from Vaughan you aren't welcomed anymore in the Alienage.
The multiple choice in dialogue were roughy on the same number of options (The real difference is the paraphrase system, which I'll wait to judge after I finish the game, because I'm not a bi fan). There are more dialogue in DAO, sure.
I agree on the background, but in DA2 the starting level is based on the escapre from the darkspawn, there isn't a lot of time to discuss Hawke's background.
About the vibrant personalities, in my opinion  there are good characters in the various origins, but there were few characters that I find interesting. (my favourite was Bhelen).

Kordaris, in any case, every bit of info given adds up to the game having a better choice and consequence system than Origins did. (This is of course only talking about the decision making aspect and living with the consequences)

How much better however? That remains to be seen. The main reason it'll be better though is thanks to the passage of time. Seeing the consequences of your actions rather than waiting until the ending slides.

Too bad I am not interested in consequences of actions of X-men magic ninjas teleporting to backstab or shooting hundreds of  magic arrows...

Guild Wars doesn't intrest me.
I am not an MMO player, so part of why I am interested in SWTOR is that it does have a full story for each character.
I also like that it is voiced and that I can play the character/toons stories as an SP.

Guild wars is the typical "hey everyone join me in hacking a 400 foot tall dragon for an hour and then take the loot".
I don't like that type of play.
I might get into doing MMO aspects in SWTOR, like the flashpoints if I find cool people to play with or my friends etc.

Part of the reason is that I like the Star Wars universe as well, with this you can go "deeper" than any other Star Wars game has gone.

A fully voiced and story WOW, would not intrest me either, I simply don't like that style.

I think SWTOR will sell many boxed copies (especially if good reviews), I don't know about the staying power it will have, for that they will need to satisfy the hardcore MMO players with a ton of content ( End game).

ok, since the demo is basically DA2's tutorial level, should people be judging the full game based on that?

Really? Than compare the demo to any Origins story and you will see the difference.

Have you recently played any one of the origins to level 3 at Normal level of difficulty. I played a mage to level 3 and it was very easy. About as easy as the escape from Lothering section of the demo. I never had to cast a heal. I rarely took much damage at all. At least in the demo if I made a mistake I had to use a heal pot.

If you aren't talking about gameplay then I will agree that the demo shows less introductory information compared to any of the origins. The origins play out like a standard Act 1 with a required call to action at the end of each. DA:2 is using a different narrative format and I have no idea whether I will like the framed narrative or not but I am glad that BW is trying different modes of storytelling

Devil May Cry Age 2 will be awesome, I'm so sure of it that I'm not even going to play it out of fear that the sheer power of it's awesomeness is going to cause my brain to implode.

So RPG codex gives valid criticism and you all dismiss it as crap and trolling?

Because it looks exactly like this but there's more to it, I assure you. Let me tell you something you already know.

Some people make up their own opinions, based on their preferences, expectations... etc. Then they try to satisfy their urge to be proven right by (aggresively) advocating their argument till they can successfully alter other people's opinions or at least gain a level of acceptance. You know it because it's human nature and I know it because I do it too. Posted Image There is nothing wrong with that.

Being valid is not the issue. They (as many people I've seen) are not critizing, just satisfying their psychological needs. The thing is, I just don't buy Codex or whatever crap where I can assess the game myself.

I hate that I say things and know what I mean and then realize I never actually said what I meant...
I never played it much, only fiddled around playing solo at low levels, and you seem to know more about SWTOR than I do, so I doubt I'm telling you anything new. What I meant to say was that you could go solo and have a group of npcs follow you or have actual players with you. So what I guess I mean is nevermind lol

You mean Rain of Arrows which was in Awakening? Or Flicker - a teleport backstab that actually hits several targets in succession?

not sure why DA2 is being singled out. 'magic ninjas' are in the original expansion. Still, you probably hated that too.

As with many things, it is a matter of degree. Flicker was something you acquired at a very advanced level from a specialisation that branched you into a somewhat magic-based class. That's quite different to any first level rogue bamfing about like crazy. The latter is a different feel. Is the world one where life seems mostly normal but has a little extra magic Out There. Or is it one where this sort of thing is commonplace? Different settings.

lulz

I think a title we can all agree on;

Dragon Age 2: not the sequel you've been looking for.

I didn't expected all of this changes, but I still looking forward DA2. For me it will be a good game, maybe even a great game. Probably not at the same level of Origins, but still a game I'll enjoy to play. And a sequel of DAO with a LOT (I'll se in the full game) of different things.

Bioware should never release eny demo in the future there is to many BG2 fanfreaks on forums.

Let me get this straight...Biowares old fans are somehow "freaks" for wanting a true spiritual successor to the greatest RPG of all time (besides Planescape: Torment). Did I get that right?

Yes spiritual successor. What they want is a carbon copy. Wasn't in BG? It is crap. Wasn't in "good" RPGs? It is crap. The only thing BioWare could do to please them is make a BG3 exactly how they made BG2, same combat system (2nd D&D rule set), same graphics , mostly text dialouge. The problem? They would complain it is not up to today's standards.

This is not a good response.

We supported and liked DA:O. That's why we are here saying that it was going in the right direction and DA2 is not. It was not a carbon copy of BG. It had many, many differences from it. I liked those differences and while I felt the game needed refining, I didn't think it needed to change so drastically.

I agree that it was a bad example but my point was that you can not please everyone. People want to hold on to the past so much that any change that is close to what used to be is bad.
There are a few things that I am not happy about in DA II but it seems that BioWare is trying to move foward rather than stay the same.

Some things that I am upset about are:
The new camera, after playing the demo I am not as worried but it is still something I don't like, but something I can easly tolerate. I also remeber a post a day or so ago saying that there might be a camera diffrent form

No loot for companions - now this is minor to me and major to some but to me it would be nice to have but I am not going to get in a rage because of it. On the other hand take away my loot horeing for my main character I will join the angry mob

Wheel - Mixed fellings about. It by some of the info I have seen later in the game the choces are not "good" and "evil" but from the demo it was "be nice to family" "be jerk to family", hopefully won't be like that for the whole game.

I will be happy If dragon age does one thing right:

1) role playing

Sure, loot and the way combat works adds to the game is important but If I don't feel like I am Hawk and what I say and do matter then the game will honestly suck for me.
