I personally never had a "what the hell, that's re-used!" reaction to any of the areas in DAO. Then again I didnt play any of the DLC except for Shale and Warden's Keep.

False. CDProjektRed is going to drop the witcher 2 soon and it will own DA2. They've picked up the baton BioWare has tossed away. The rise of the RPGlite is being ushered in with DA2 but the proper genre is not dead.

The Witcher 2 is not even party-based. It's more like Fable, just darker.

DLC and some side quest had a lot of that reused feeling.

What's with all the negativity? This review isn't new and has been posted before.

As for level design, DAO re-used areas VERY badly too. Who cares if the writing is good?

And if you must put different clothes on your companions, just use a Mod.

Far as I know ONE reviewer wasn't happy about the ending. OMG NOES, it'll suck! *Whine* *Whine*

Seriously, folks, this is ridiculous!

That's not the point. Instead of improving on what actually made their game successful, they're displacing major aspects of the game, and taking away both the large and small details that made it great. Some of it is just change for the sake of change, but the majority of the changes seem to serve the purpose of making the game more "console-friendly" which in turn ends up simplifying it to extremes. The people airing their "negativity" and criticism are passionate gamers, so don't make the mistake of thinking we're trolls.

Not only that, but we're not even sure if they'll release a toolset, so "Just mod it," is not a valid response. I would if I could, believe me.

Playing the demo I have seen pretty much everything I loved about DAO, only better. And that wasn't even the final built. I am sure modding clothes/armor in will be possible. It's RPG Standard for that to be possible, really.

The whole "unsatisfying ending" blabla is based on ONE GUY'S opinion, or did I miss another review saying so? (PC Games review has been posted before) I am looking forward to the game and will reserve my final judgment until then. Weren't there similar postings about "DAO will be Baldur's Gate Lite for kiddies, OMG NOES!" issues before DAO's release? :bandit:

It's obvious the ending is weak so the real ending can be sold to you at a later date in the form of DLC.

Plus the combat seems action heavy outside of signs/magic. Left click to use light blows and right click to use strong blows is what I gathered from a recent Gamespot preview on the combat.

I'd rather have an expansion. And as long as the ending does not revert into DOS Mode like Slides ala DAO, I'll be satisfied.

Wow, you think one game is enough to topple Bioware from position of greatest RPG developer?. ONE DAMN GAME?. You are delusional, and ignorant. Even if the Witcher 2 is good, what else has CDProjectRed done?. Yeah exactly. now go check Biowares resume. Wow, you are a genius.

To be honest, Perse, I'm thinking people's problem with the ending is that it'll only be Hawke's story that's resolved, rather than the present day narrative thread. I have no problems with that.

You don't know how right you are.

Yes, BioWare, dumb us quality gamers down for those stupid consoles. Produce the game faster and enhance the experience with DLC.

Great future 8[.

At least DAO is an unpolished masterpiece.

Could be possible. Guess there is only one way to find out. Bioware
hasn't let me down yet (Though I have had my "Dammit,
Bioware!" moments) and I don't expect that to start because a German
reviewer wasn't happy with an ending they wrote. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/tongue.png[/smilie]

Good for you.

When I purchase a game at full price, I want the full package, inculding an ending. I don't mind DLC, expansions, or whatever, just as long as the actual game has an end and I don't have to pay for it (again).

Worst trend the gen.

Again, unless ALL reviews mention how awful the ending is, I don't care. (Think "Black Mirror". Egads, now that was a rotten ending!)

Im thinking of waiting for an ultimate editon that incluse all the dlc and such.Hopefully it comes out as a full priced game.

One other thing that people have got to remember is that BioWare have actually been quite open with us on the story ending front.

They've stated several times that there's no big bad and the game ends when you answer a question.

Depends how many people review each game. But there seems to be consensus.

If anyone comes on after March 8th having seen that then proceeds to say how awful the end was, guess we get to laugh and say well you were warned.

Personally I think they'd have a hard time topping ME2.

You make a valid point. I cannot judge as of yet, though this "unsatisfying ending" phrase has been thrown around by a couple of reviewers now.

Again, BioWare have been quite open with us on the story's ending. It ends when we answer a question and there's no big bad to defeat.

Alongside what I mentioned about it only possibly being Hawke's story that concludes, could the above also have a hand in people saying the ending was unsatisfying?

I believe it's three opinions. The German review, the swedish review and the PC Gamer UK review, during the podcast the reviewer says he thought the ending didnt have the same level of quality as the rest of the game. So that's three out of the four reviews that have been released.

Not trying to bring the game down or anything, there's things I like about the game and others I dont, just like anyone else. It just seems this forum only has people who will blindly defend the game and others who will mindlessly hate it, I try to be a reasonable guy.

Yeah, Abbbe, but you also noted he said it's quite obvious there'll be future games in the franchise?

He went on to say that he thinks that future games will be set in a different city each time.

I see your point. All I can do before playing it myself is guess. I don't judge a whole game based on guesswork. Let's wait and see.
