Hey guys I am a bit scared my computer will not be able to handle dragon age 2 properly and I can not afford to upgrade it I have preordered the signature edition but I will be upset if my computer can not run it on a decent enough setting to make the game look very good I wasn't a big fan of the demo since it looked to clunky but I know that it was just a demo an the real release version will have options to turn the graphics up higher and make it look good but I need to know if it will run well my computer specs are.

Nvidia GeForce GTX 275
Installed memory (RAM): 4 gigs (3.25gb Usable)
32 bit operating system Windows 7 Ultimate
Processor: Intel® Core™2 Quad CPU Q9300 @2.50GHz 2.50 GHz

If you need any other information please let me know also I ain't very smart with computers so I was wondering if you do need more information please let me know where I can find it so I can post it up for you guys to have a look at thank you so much.

That also depends on what resolution you intend on playing at. From your specs it is fine for a 1920x1080 in high settings. Due to your card you won't be able to switch to very high settings (it requires a DX11 graphic cards, the GTX 275 is DX10)

With those specs you should be able to play the demo in high settings already. That will give you an idea of the framerate that you can expect.

The resolution I play at is 1860x1050 and I heard somewhere that I can run it on DX11 but I wont get the full settings or whatever it was out of it

Yes, even in the demo you can already activate the DX11 renderer in the video options screen and switch to the high quality settings with your config. But only the functions that are DX10 compatible are passed to your card. The DX11 functions and effects of the very high quality mode are reserved for DX11 cards because DX10 cards just wouldn't know what to make of them.

I'm in the same case as you, I have a DX10 card.

Other than that your config is quite OK to enjoy the game in high settings.

You will have the DirectX 11 software library installed in Windows 7 always, but the features games can use will depend on your video card hardware. It is orders of magnitude slower to support such functions in software using DirectX 10 hardware than with DirectX 11 capable hardware, so this is not even an option. If you want DirectX 11 eye candy ingame, get yourself a DirectX 11 capable card. In that category, the AMD Radeon 6850 is relatively affordable at about $ 150.

Personally, I would wait and see what DirectX 11 mode will get you image quality wise when the game is released. If the image quality is not that different from DirectX 9 to DirectX 11 and your GTX 275 runs the game fast enough, you might not need to spend any money at all.

What really gets me is that most of the 'DirectX10 + 11' features according to their descriptions in the options menu were available in Dragon Age: Origins in DirectX9... What's the deal?

Why relagate features that are easily available to DX9 users to DX10 & 11?

download the pc demo and you will have a better idea, with my own setup I can run the demo at least with everything on and maxed out.

Win7 pro 64bit

Phenom 2.6

GTX470

4 gig of ram

Game is running at my LCD's native of 1280x1024

I have run it both in DX9 and 11 and see no difference so guessing there are No DX11 textures In the demo

zazally - you will be able to play DA2 well with your system. I had a similar rig, Q6600 OCed to 3.6 GHz, 4GB RAM and GTX260-216. You will have only 2 limitations, the DirectX 11 support and limited Anti-Aliasing. I found the performance of my GTX260-216 dropped significantly when AA was set at 4x or more.

In some cases, a 32-bit OS will report less than 4Gig of ram... which is the max that 32 bit Windows can use.  That's total system memory, including video card memory.  IIRC, the GTX 275 has a strange amount of onboard RAM... something like 856 or something.  So there you go.

I wouldn't sweat it.  3.25 is plenty for the game. See:  http://lifehacker.co...than-4gb-of-ram

EDIT:  Adding... if you're worried about RAM resources, keeping the windows pagefile small will help, as will not running other applications while playing the game.  http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/58/index/5840412

Thank you RaenImrahl I played dragon age 1 max settings with aa x16 I think or whatever the highest was and it ran fine so I hope my 275gtx can run this game on mostly high settings since I am that type of person who likes games to look and feel good and I find that having the settings up as much as I can have them makes me feel more comfortable when I play my games
