so ratings like 88/100 is mediocre? That's pretty good, sure most reviewers seem to have forgot that 50/100 should be what an average game gets but the average (for AAA games at least) is around 70 or higher but it's not like DA2 have been getting that bad reviews.

DAO have a rating of 86/100 on metacritic... just saying

civ 5 got really good scores.
tried playing it.
boring...very boring...i forced myself to continue playing in order to let myself feel like I got my moneys worth.
scores are meaningless.

1st of all the demo does not show a lot really from the game at all,2nd what reviews?.In order for anyone to have genuinely reviewed DA2 they would need to play for at least 4/5days solid to give a genuine review.I have seen some bull about pc gamer uk having a review in their 16th feb released issue, but lets weigh that up.They publish on the 16th feb so 4/5days solid of playing through they would have had to have a copy of the game right about the 11th,exactly a month before european launch. Now I'm not saying their won't be reviews before launch but thats just suspect to self promotion.Don't forget their is now quite a bit of footage out there of the game plus press showings by Bioware so a manufactured review is easily done.Anyway all I'm saying is that I find it suspect.and this kind of thing happens all the time. Why are pc gamer uk so special as to have the game that early? mmmm hey did Mike Laidlaw not go on gamestop now playing ,how come they haven't got it or Ign.Smell bull here big time:)

I don't think I've seen those mediocre reviews. There are bound to be negative reviews for any game, but I haven't seen anything of the likes of a unanimous negative reception...

yea, they usually are. i'm just saying it havn't got bad reviews, sure a few mentions of a ending that isnt great but there are always plenty of good things said too, seriously if a game gives me 40+ hours of great gameplay i won't mind too much if the ending isnt the best one ever made...

I won't be pre-ordering, I'm going to wait to see what actual gamers think rather than reviewers. This will the first Bioware game I've not pre-ordered, the demo has put me right off and I won't risk my money up front just for a few free baubles from EA. I didn't like the Street Fighter combat, the removal of the tactical camera is mind boggling and I don't like the consolised dialouge wheel which only gives you a rough idea of what your character will say. I do hope I'm wrong, if I am I'll just grab it off Steam.
Note to fanboys: This is my opinion and I'm entitled to it, remember that before you begin to foam at the mouth while looking for some ever so witty picture or comment to reply with.

i seriously wonder why you think anonymous people on the internet are more reliable than critics with a name.

I have seriously lost all interest in the game,it is getting medicore reviews and after playing the demo its buggy and ugly. And common bioware recycled areas have you not learned that gets boring after a while and unsatsfying ending uggh Dragon age is DEAD!

it's a demo...I'd expect it to be buggy as it is a demo, a small section of the bigger game.
I did agree with you on the ugly part, but after awhile the new art-style grew on me. The textures are much more better and sharper than DA:O.

...I think ther second part needs an english translator...

unsatisfying ending? I did mention it was a demo no?
...you just wern't happy you didn't get boom boom time with Isabella aren't you...XD

oh really now, last time i read something it's not like we are visitng five different caves that all look the same rather we see the same areas a few times and there is nothing wrong with that, there we're several quests in the same areas in DAO too wasn't there?
Seriously I'd rather have bioware design one good location and use that 3 times rather than using 3 different but mediocre areas...

91 on PC, actually

I wonder why anyone would think that 86 is a mediocre score...

Surely game critics must be gamers themselves? I guess it's just personal taste.

I haven't lost much interest because I never had much to begin with.

This game is going to suck harder than a black hole and is the worst possible 'casual' RPG for thickos.

They can be meaningless to you, but they can be reliable for me and the truth is, they affect sales.

considering every rater has their own way of rating games.

It is meaningless unless you know why.

Dont care much about sales since I dont sell anything.

Because we can't be bought with advertising and hands on exclusive deals like the big reviewers are. Read the PC review and then be amazed how it can conclude in that score.

From the text thats more like a 70-75 than an 80+

Yea, specially since the only gamers you will hear from are the ones who don't like it, the ones who do are too busy playing tha game :P

Oh, that explains that, I thought DAO used to have a higher score, looks like i looked at the 360 version now :P
Yea, that was my point it's not getting mediocre reviews, it's getting good reviews and they are fairly in line with the ones DAO got.

I agree with you.  A score in the 80's should still be a great game.  Though you should mention that the Metacritic score of 86 is for the 360 version of DA:O so you don't ****** off the PC gamers.  The PC DA:O was 91 on metacritic.  The only review listed on Metacritic for DA2 is by PC Gamer UK which gave it a 94, the same exact score they gave to DA:O.  Metacritic's scores for DA:O range from 70 to 100.  Granted there was only one score of 70 so if you throw that out that still leaves 12 scores in the 80's, 6 of them 80.

My question is are these other reviews people are talking about are they all for the PC?  The console versions of DA:O were lower, though not by much, than the PC version.

As for the story not being as good... I won't know that until I play the game myself.

So because you're posting here discussing this, you don't like the demo?

A well written user review is easy to spot, anyway you don't just read one persons opinion. Forums are good too, it's not hard to work out who the haters and fanboys are , once you've dismissed them you can get a pretty good idea of what the game is really like.

Hope you find a game you like.

I find it amusing people zero in on 'the story's not the greatest and the ending's unsatisfying', yet they always tend to neglect zero'ing in on the 'but it perhaps has the best storytelling' part.
