Hi guys,

I've been lurking here for a few years; never had anything really worthwhile to say, so this might be my first post here. I've played Bioware games since the release of Baldur's Gate, though - and Bioware is, by far, my favourite video game company.

There have been a lot of threads concerning the small text size in the demo, and that's a problem that pains me, too. I could partake in those threads, but I think the real problem is a little more comprehensive and thus deserves one of its own.

The year is 2011 and Dragon Age II doesn't have resolution independent user interface. Seriously, Bioware? Just stop and think about that for a moment. Not 1991. Not 2001. 2011.

I have a gorgeous 30-inch wide-screen LCD monitor with excellent color reproduction and 2560x1600 resolution. The text in the tooltips (those very small rectangles that appear when you hover your mouse cursor over the skill icons) is so small I can't read it comfortably: either I need to squint my eyes - which is uncomfortable - or I have to lean in - which is also uncomfortable. The subtitles are a little painful, too. My understanding of spoken English is very good for a non-native speaker, but I do need subtitles from time to time.

But it's not just the text that is small. The Character Record screen in DA2 uses less than a quarter of the screen. I kid you not, I haven't used a 15-inch monitor since 1994. Yet there it is, in front of my eyes, in 2011.

I don't want to sound too negative here, this was supposed to be constructive criticism. Frankly, I think DA2 is an improvement over DAO in most areas, and I loved DAO. But I guess that's why it's so frustrating when things like a proper user interface are left completely unpolished. And it's not like Bioware lacks the ability: for example, both Mass Effect games had excellent resolution independent UIs (yes, I know it was a mostly - completely? - different dev team, but the know-how is in the house).

And finally, implementing such a UI is not even difficult. My 17 years of programming experience say so.

I know it's probably way too late for DA2, but please, Bioware, do make a modern UI a part of Dragon Age 3. A patch for DA2 would be just perfect.

I'd really like to hear other gamers' views on this issue. Don't be shy. :)
