I wasn't expecting much as I only just reach past the minimum and the hatred for my cards runs deep.
I added the demo EXE to the Dragon Age 2 SLI settings through Nvidia Inspector to allow the Demo to run using SLI otherwise you can only use AFR 2 and that is a few frames lower. With the SLI detector on I found that the game is only using 50% of the SLI facility and as Bioware have said the Demo results will differ from the final product I hope that SLI will give much better results.
My Benchmarks are:
Direct x 9 1440*900 16*10 - Medium Graphics - Occlusion ON - A/L 2x - SLI
Min: 25 Avg: 31 Max: 42 - Smooth fast gameplay - Laggy due to large changes in frame rate
Direct x 10 running as 1440*900 16*10 - Medium Graphics - Occlusion ON - A/L x2 - SLI
Min: 16 Avg: 21 Max: 27 - Smoother slower gameplay - No lag but low frames cause slow down
I noticed that at certain points in gameplay my frames would fire upto 350-500 and then drop back down to 30 once it was viewing a character model again. I found this caused lag jumping from such a high frame rate back down to normal and V-sync made no difference for me if anything dropped the frames drastically. Resolution changes between 720p and 900p made little difference.
I found that even though running on the Direct x 10 settings gave me lower frames they were more stable than the Direct 9 frames output. I think mainly because the frames jumped up and down so much on DX9 that it caused lag because on DX10 I found it much smoother although slow at times due to the low frame rate, this in itself made it feel more like DAO though
Im happy that I am going to be able to play this on my current setup and will probably wait until Witcher 2 before thinking about picking up a DX11 laptop as the graphics look smart enough without DX11 on DA2.
Would be really interested to see other mobility benchmarks.
