Heh, I spent quite a lot of time with it myself on KOTOR. Especially 'cos I completed it at least 15 times over the years. So you do kinda pick up on how the puzzle works, after that it's quite easy.

I don't think I had any trouble with it. Though I can barely remember my first playthrough tbh.

It's easy apart from the fact that the flickering makes my eyes want to explode. I get that in a lot of places in ME. :(

Yes I do it every time. It's a Hanoi Towers puzzle I think. Something like this:

Umm it's pretty easy. It's like a puzzle I'd expect a Pre-Schooler even to be able to figure out. That's what half their toys are like, well okay there isn't 3 of them. I thought I was a moron for taking 5 minutes to figure it out the first time.

I think it's namely confusing cause at first you don't know how the puzzle works. I thought it was going to be all random stuff how it moved things. I don't think there were instructions at the start either, so yeah your first time you just randomly push buttons. But once you figure out that pressing each button moves the top-most block to the next open slot it's pretty easy.

It was easy for me. It's a mathematical puzzle called Towers of Hanoi, but its the easiest variant. Normally everything on the right has to go to the left, bu in this one it can be the center or the left. I know the optimal solution for right to left is 8, so I think this one is 6-8 moves, but I am not sure. It might be 8 too. The normal puzzle was in KoToR though, so that makes it easy anyways.

The Tower of Hanoi puzzle in ME (1) is easy as hell since there is no consequence for screwing up. I usually solve it manually. And if ME3 has at least one puzzle during the main story I'll be one happy camper. I can't remember ME2 having any sorts of puzzle besides in the side missions.

I remember solving a puzzle like it on a game called Dr. Brain when I was a kid. I remembered the solution, and as such solved this puzzle quite quickly. Here is a online version of it, if you want to play it. http://www.dynamicdr.../towerhanoi.htm

When i started the puzzle, i did not know what to do so i used Omni gel. But once i had done that actually thought about it more, i began to figure it out.

I always just slapped omnigel on it after clicking a bit here and there tbh. Since I just bought Kotor, it seems I'll have to think about it and solve it after all hehe.

I'm a computer scientist. If I couldn't solve the Towers of Hanoi I'd have to kill myself out of shame :)

As the title says, did anyone actually do it WITHOUT looking up guides on the internet or did most people just use the 100 gel

On my 1st playthrough I just looked up how to do it, all other succeeding playthroughs I just used the omni-gel

Yeah I did it in about 2 minutes completely by myself. It only took 20 seconds to work out what you have to do.

Yeah, pretty much.

It's been years since I've seen this puzzle in a game. I remember doing basically the same puzzle in Sierra's Island of Dr. Brain, like 15-16 yrs ago.

Just beat the 8 ring version. Tedious, but not difficult.  for those of you who haven't beaten it, there is a really simple algorithm to beat the game.  After you figure that out, the game is very beatable.

Yep, and the tediousness stemming from the fact that adding one ring doubles the moves required.

I followed a guide and it still didn't work. I never tried again. I also never disarm the nuke on that one planet. Omnigel ftw

I looked into solution, but the one i got was just saying that i have to move all the blocks from one thing to second thing. I sat down and figured what to do myself. And never used omnigel... anywhere.
