Not when you're playing pure renengade/don't think anyone has the right to bring people back from the dead.

Ash was born about one year after start of first contact war.

She knew what a geth was on eden prime...

and Shepard knew what heat sinks were, after waking up in lasarus facility, even though they were developed after shepard's death.

and Miranda recognized collectors on sight, even though she goes on to say that most people think they are as much of a myth as reapers and that very few people had actualy seen them (which brings up some very interesting questions about Miranda)

mass effect games are great, but they are certainly not plot hole free.  There are occasional "huh" moments that happen with every character, so you really ought to look at an overall picture.

Ashley could have seen some Geth on pictures. Or someone else from her platoon could have, and identified them.

Miranda also could have been familiar with the Collectors by reputation, especially since TIM knew about their involvement beforehand.

And thermal clips are a retcon.

I have an answer, it is not much, but it is mine.
My Femshep. How many times i have winced when she does something uncharacteristic, How many times have i died because the damn woman throws the singularity to shielded enemies? And the list is endless.
And how many hours have i spent getting that face just right? How many playthroughs have we been together? And that list, is also endless.
That's text book love-hate relationship.
And i would not have it any other way.

She made an educated guess based on what she'd learned in school.  Probably a "survey of galactic history" that everyone takes in tenth grade.

Right. So she can make an educated guess what a uncommon race is(for humans anyway) but couldnt tell keepers, turians
or salarians from animals? Someone who used a holographic display for sure isnt a animal. That should be common sense even without knowing about them.

Snarky racist comment.  From what I hear, it was suppsed to trigger only around Keepers.

There is a difference between "I know what X is" and "X kinda looks like a monkey, lol."

Even when i roleplay a renegade(who i think is rather alive then dead if only to help humanity) that would douchebagery behavior. No offense. At least she is a valuable ally/information source for a renegade shepardt.

point one - true enough, which means she didn't know herself if someone else told her.
point two - she recognized them on sight, not reputation.  curious
point three - proves my point kinda about the looking at a bigger picture isntead of focusing on minor details and inconsistencies, when it coems to character development

P.S.  you're right, Kaidan only talks about his family to femshep - one of the reasons I prefer to play as femshep rather then mshep, there are few occasions where we get extra conversations.  also - he does yell at udina with the whole you are selling us out, though I figured it fits into his character kinda sorta - maybe  (he can occasionaly lose control you know, he just doesn't like to - yeah its not as in character as it is for Ash, but that's just one of those minor inconcistencies I'm talking about)

P.S.2  Not all my shepards are happy with Liara for bringing them back and they would like to express it.  I still like Liara, I just don't like certain lack of options, but its not just Liara's issue.

A renegade Shep should be glad he's back alive. Now he can go around bragging that he's an immortal douche

Or he could believe that taking down the Broker is more important than being all buddy-buddy with the crazy blue chick that obsesses over you to the point that she tracks down your body and sells it to terrorists.

Or he could just not like Liara.

Or he could believe that showing emotion is weakness.

Or he could believe that coming back from the dead is fundamentally wrong.

Lots of reasons, really.  Besides, "I'm doing this for the mission, not you" is a common renegade response.  Pure ReneShep would even say it to his mother.

Now I want to see Shepard get a spanking from his mother

Kaidan and Jacob: I had no opinion at the start of the game but as it went on the more boring and less interested I got in them.

You are not even allowed to confront tim with the fact that verberus was the reason you lost your unit on akuze...

And most stupid answer in Lair of the Shadowbroker, when Vasir confronting shepardt about working for cerberus:
I know what cerberus done.It doesnt matter.

So sometimes it is not even allowed to play as a shepardt with at least one braincell.

At the start of ME2, I really rather liked the character of Jacob: he seemed like a decent soldier who identified with Shepard, plus he was also screwed over by Alliance politics and had joined up with Cerberus purely out of a need to save others while still disapproving with some of their more extreme beliefs and practices. However, as the game went on, I just got more and more bored by his personality, which wasn't helped by the fact that he appeared to be the "Cerberus cheerleader" for nearly every new squadmate (I think Miranda only ever showed her snobbish self in front of a new member was when Jack came on board) and some of his comments to others on his first introduction were just asinine (telling Tali "be sure to say hello to the ship's new AI"... really? Saying that to a quarian?).

But seriously, during LotSB, there wasn't a single douchey line to be said to Liara.  The cabin reunion scene was especially vomitrocious.  All I really wanted was one line to say, "I'm here to take down the Broker, not for you."  That would have been fine.  But no.

Yeah, that's one thing that just bugged the hell out of me in LotSB: I never had any interest in making Liara my LI in either ME1 or ME2, yet the dialogue and Shepard's acting in that final cabin sequence was just way to overdone and seemed to suggest that there was some special connection with Liara that he/she just doesn't have with the other squadmates (Shepard's dejected look after Liara leaves and his/her final words while sitting on the bed nearly made me choke...).

^This. It was completely awkward for me watching that. Felt like a very heavy handed way of saying Liara's supposed to be canon LI for everyone (starting a new ME2 game without the comic on PS3 makes her default LI for both. I thought it was supposed to be one of Ash/Kaidan? Should try it on PC sometime) LotSB also paints Liara and Shepard's relationship as very close, which doesn't take into account if the imported Shep never said two words to her outside of the debriefs (was the case with my Shepard). She/the game just assumes Shepard is doing all of it for her, but some players may not play their Sheps that way (I don't. Never will seeing as she doesn't interest me as a character at all).
Oh, and the handholding if you hug her in the broker's lair is just... Particularly if you play as a shep with a current LI...but then she always got the 'you're attracted to me' vibe from Shep no matter what, so...she just probably thinks she's special. So I pick the coldest replies. Because watching it once was

OP - Jacob and Thane.

To be fair that's kind of the case.  If you remember in ME1 Liara's been inside your head, whether you romanced her or not she's touched your mind, no other squadmate can claim that (ok one can, maybe).

eh, i usually either hate the character or love them. I guess Legion is the closest to this. When I saw him I was like "hell yeah, geth squadmate, this is awesome" but then they pulled the whole "oh, those geth you fought, yeah they were bad geth, we're good geth, we just want to live in peace." I don't know why it pissed me off, I guess I just felt it was a cop-out and expected him to be more renegade. Plus it doesn't help that I get him right before the suicide mission every time and don't really get to use him unless I want Kelly dead, and my Shep doesn't let his ****es get away that easily.

Heh, I thought the same thing.  It was like his only purpose on the Normandy was to be the doorman.  He made a stupid comment to Thane too, about not trusting assasins... despite working with a pro-human splinter group with extremely shady practices for the past few years himself.
