Utha was one on "The Calling". She always used her hands. But in Awakening she suddenly is a Warrior. Just like Logain was Rogue in "The Stolen Throne" but a Warrior in Origins.
I think they had to cut it from the game because it was to hard to do.

Utha is a "silent sister", which has all the disciplined, brawler feel with none of the silly, misplaced asian mystical-monk nonsense. If that is what folks want, that could make a good specialization or something. But the oriental kung-fu master, quivering palm misplaced-anime drivel should be left to games and genres where it fits.

I'm not averse to the idea of martial arts monks in the DA universe. In Thedas, however...

its funny you and others like you keep mentioning asian mystical nonsense when i myself and every other pro unarmed combatant poster has made no mention of it. Still we know that the Dwarves have created their own style of unarmed combat, the first Silent Sister apparently invented it, and there is also mention of Utha in the novels, and im willing to bet the one we fight in the provings during origins was intended to be as well but game mechanics probably prevented it.

Some like myself have suggested the Quinari as also great candidates for having a more spiritual mind over body style of empty handed fighting. So there is a presidence for it.

You included the word "mystical" in the thread title. You might want to remove it if you are going to get all bruised over people responding to it.

Because to non practictioneers it would very well seem mystical, for a guy to be splitting bricks with his bare hand, running from Denerium to the Brecilian Forest on foot without stopping for rest or water. To be facing armed/armored creatures bare handed or with a simply staff and winning, until he/she actually explains it to the uneducated. Its as simply as asking the general populous of Thedas what manner of man can do these things? I'm almost 100% certain they would say it most be some kind of mage! Mystic in the thread title was only to help differeriate between a religious figure that are sometimes called monks, and a smaller sect of sometimes catagorized individuals in fantasy that use what could at best be called extraordinary abilities.

I also went back and edited that post simply because I'm trying to have a serious discussion and didn't want to come off as being antagonizing.

thread revival. someone mentioned they'd have loved to see a Biotic Martial Artist in ME3, well guess what they added one, and its called the Fury, and its as wuxia as they come with a chick who teleports, explodes, burns with her biotic aura, performs melee punches, kicks and uppercuts, can throw a ball of light and curse her opponents with ongoing pain and damage which leaps from opponent to opponent. Eat it!

lol

Seriously, though BioWare im only disappointed in the so called fans of your RPG's, continue on making the games that you know people want to play. Listen to the ideas of the fans and take the ones that help create exciting and enjoyable characters and worlds that the true gamers/buyers of your products will enjoy.
