That's true...2 years is pretty much S.O.P now days in the gaming industry in terms of turning out sequels.

Damn it, Diablo III! It's been announced in what, 2008? and still no proper release date.

Meh, same thing happened with Highlander (not a sequel but still lol.) only come to find out later that the game had been cancelled all together Image IPB

Bioware doesn't have any rush, and they've already finished making most of the game. I doubt they'll need a delay- in fact, I'd hate to see them delay it just for the sake of fan service. I want them to make Mass Effect 3 the way they envisioned it and in a way that they think is satisfying.

didnt' they have everything they need in terms of engine and gameplay issues when me2 came out?.

No, they didn't. Mass Effect 1 and 2 are, technically, quite different. Both use Unreal Engine 3, sure, but they're not that similar otherwise. ME2 is generally of a much better quality, and the engine - especially on the PC - runs more efficiently.

Speaking of which, you know it's inevitable when they release the demo for ME3 that we're going to have the same "hate service" going on here that the DA2 forums do with the few folks pissing and moaning right? lol  Someone, somewhere is going to make a scene about ME3 not being what they thought it was going to be

There would have to be serious issues for EA to allow a delay. It'll be shoved out the door whether it is ready or not.

With any luck, that won't happen as much beyond the ME1 fanboys going on about ME3 being dumbed down. I doubt they'll make any radical changes from ME2 as it wouldn't make much sense.

Dragon Age 2 isn't going to be a continuation, as such at least, of the Warden's story. Mass Effect 3 is a continuation, and the climax, of Shepard's story.

If the art style was going to change - Which it has done before, and may do again - then it would be a game outside of the initial Mass Effect trilogy.

If it needs more work then yes. If its a fine game which needs no work then release it. Simples.

Casey said they started working on ME3 in early December 2009, which is over a month before ME2 was even released. He also said they have the engine ready. Go figure.

It seems to be a tactic of some of the worst haters.  I think they believe that by waiting to play the demo it gives them the illusion of objectivity, like they can say they at least gave it a try "I really wanted to like this game guys, I reallly did, but...".  In the end they always say the some nonsensical, PC elitist, paranoid BS they were droning on about before the demo.  It doesn't really matter though, gamers with an IQ above 2 instantly see right through them.

Ok if you 2 years in enough look at the games realesed in 2010 everything exactly the same just different characters and maps example call of duty

at first they make a good game so everybody likes it and get lots of money then they change few things and get more money then again change few things and even more money

noup - 2011.

Simple, since BW wont launch both, ME3 & SWTOR at same time. Just a business. Think about it.

And how we come full circle. This same topic came up when they announced ME2.

This is essentially a mad-lib. Just like all the others.

"ME**number entry** will suck because **insert gripe**."

"The reason *insert gameplay mechanic** was removed is because **insert random, completely idiotic conspiracy theory involving Bioware, The US government, Gamestop, Moon People, the guys who make Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and The Oscar Meyer Bologna Company**."

Except TOR is a LucasArts game developed by BioWare Austin and Mass Effect 3 is an EA game developed by (I think) BioWare Edmonton - Not to mention BioWare have no say when a game will be released. One is being launched for the MMO market, the other for the shooter/RPG market. TOR is supposed to be releasing early-ish this year, perhaps closer to summer, whereas ME3 is expected to be at the end of the year.

Your point doesn't stand.

they wont launch so "similar" games at once! Its obvious. Peeps who may buy ME3 before SWTOR wont do that when TOR is out (im one of them).

OffTopic:  I was going to get TOR but suddenly remembered the reason I stopped playing MMOs to begin with and decided against getting it when it comes out.

OnTopic:  That is probably exactly why they are doing it.

I wouldn't be surprised if it would be pushed back to early 2012 for various reasons, but further than that ain't gonna happen.
