Ok, so I am quite familiar with the toolset and most aspects. I was just reading the following page-

For some reason I cannot grasp what a blocking script is. I understand every other aspect of the entire page, but I still cannot grasp their explanation for what they are.
I realize what ga_ scripts are and that they go in the aciton node of a conversation...so do 'blocking scripts' consist of any ga_ scripts? Or are they something else that I should be doing, that I don't know about?
If someone would be so kind as to give me a laymans explanation on what a blocking script is and how it is useful for us builders?

btw- I couldn't write a single script to save my life. I just use the convo and lilac's when i can.

I'm not sure where the terminology blocking comes from, I assume it is a technical cinematic term. I just refer to these as a conversation script. As they describe it just allows you to have specific scripted events linked to certain nodes. Basically just an alternative to using ga scripts.

Blocking script? Sounds like you’re referring to a conditional script. A gc_conditional script in short term is a script that decides if a ga_action script should fire or not, depending on the condition.



Here’s what the TS has to say about gc_scripts:



“Conditional scripts are used to cause a specific dialogue node (and its corresponding actions) from taking place only under specific situations. For example, you might want to let the player ask Pitney about his wife, but only after he has met her. Multiple conditional scripts can be applied to a dialogue node using “and” or “or” statements.”

Cool, so nothing I didnt already know then. That's good.

I was thinking that it might just be a terminology I wasnt familiar with, thanks for clearing that up - Kaldor.
