I loved the games on my 360 but when i sold that and got a PS3 ive been waiting forever for this game to come to PS3. It is kind of disapointing that you dont get to experience the whole game with things like conrad and stuff but im not complaining. At least i get to play it.

Played the hell out of ME2 on the xbox... my first one died with ME2 in the disc drive. I still intend to finish the trilogy on my 2nd xbox god permitting, but I bought another copy on PS3 just as an insurance option to fall back on and did a final playthrough on insanity with my main paragon soldier mshep and got the platinum trophy last week. And to support BioWare, of course.

Edit: I'd would play Mass Effect on PC but I just prefer a gamepad (i'm left-handed): and the fact that they stripped out the gamepad support from a game originally developed for the xbox is so frustratingly pointless.

I rented it twice and purchased all DLC for it on PS3. (Even though I have it already on 360)

I hope I helped Bioware a little. ha.

Mass Effect 3 will be a much bigger launch for PS3 i'm sure.. just needs a good marketing campaign.

Yeah, I went and bought ME2 for the PC already. You know, PC's, those things everyone in the whole country has and can play games on.

I realized now that PS3 is the inferior version. All it has is better graphics by a little bit and it got the main dlcs but that's it. Bioware removed content from the PS3 version by removing ME1 cameos and what could've helped a lot is just pretend that PS3 version Shepard met Conrad, Shiala, Parisini, etc. because then it would have everything the 360 has but in reality it doesn't. I don't give a **** if people try to defend Bioware's decision by saying PS3 players never met those ME1 characters so that's why they weren't included. You just don't remove content like that and expect people who played the game on pc or 360 to be happy about that. When ME3 comes out I will get it on the 360, screw the incomplete PS3 version.

1.  It's completely plausible that Crysis sold 80,000 in it's first week and went on to finish at 3 million.  80,000 isn't a bad number for first week sales.  You're really not establishing anything there.

I am establishing that a) NPD is far from accurate and B) even if the 70,000 was accurate that still does not equate to a failure.

Gatt9 wrote... 2.  The only real retailer not included in NPD is Wallmart,  even Amazon's in NPD.-

Missing out Walmart is a pretty big gap, I don't live in America but even I know that Walmart is a juggernaut and people buy games from there.  So again it is just another example of how NPD is inaccurate.

Gatt9 wrote...3.  In general,  worldwide sales are about 50% of NA sales.  Which would mean the PS3 version sold only 110,000 copies.

Where did you get 50% from ?  It is well known that Europe and Asia is the PS3's heartland like the US is the Xbox 360's territory.

Gatt9 wrote... 4.  Digital sales are completely irrelevant for this topic.

Erm why is a digital copy sold irrelevant ?  Mass Effect 2 was offered for sale as a digital download and those sales are not counted by NPD.  So again NPD is not giving us a full picture.

Gatt9 wrote... 5.  So at ~110,000 units,  it can not be described as either "Selling very well".

Week ONE sales of 110,000 is pretty good going for a game that has already been out a year on other platforms.  The figure may be even higher because I dispute your 50% rest of world estimate and the fact NPD is grossly inaccurate when it comes to accounting for copies sold.

Gatt9 wrote... 6.  EA doesn't get a choice.  Microsoft holds the ME contract,  and holds exclusivity for 12 months.

Hm so if Microsoft "holds exclusivity for 12 months" then perhaps you can explain why Mass Effect 3 is coming to the PC, 360 and PS3 simultaneously ?  Microsoft only holds rights over the first Mass Effect game, it has no control over Mass Effect 3 so EA are free to do what they want.

From a fan of Bioware who wants Bioware to succeed, this news sucks.

From a fanboy's perspective, this is great news because it shows Bioware and by extention, EA who the TRUE Bioware fans are (PC and even Xbox players).

70,000? but it has all the DLC's in one disc....it could be the fact that alot of things that made the other version great are gone.

agreed! I own mass effect 1 on 360 and PC and Mass effect 2 on PC, 360 AND PS3, I love Mass Effect THAT much. Same goes for Dragon Age.
Thing is, for some reason, I enjoyed playing the PS3 version the most.

I never saw what price it was for but was it like the regular price for new games? If so then we know why it didn't sell well. It's a year old so noone will want to pay that much for a game even if it did have all the DLC up to that point it was released.

Who would've figured that a year-old RPG being ported to another console mid-way through a direct trilogy might not sell the greatest? Oh yeah, everyone.

I don't think they expected it to sell well... I think they did it so they can bring ME3 to the PS3, which will sell great (presumably)

Also, Little Big Planet 2, which is probably the PS3's third largest franchise came out on the same day.

I can't speak to the validity podcast or NPD's forecast as I am not authorized to give sales numbers publicly, but I can say we're quite happy with ME2 PS3's sales.
