The Exception Code: c0000094 is an "Integer Divide by Zero" exception. If this is a Bioware programming error, there is nothing you can do to fix this. So another possibility is a problem with your hardware. You can at least test this.
I would run some hardware diagnostics and stability test programs. For memory testing I like MemTest86+ and for HW stability I like Prime95 or LinX.
Check the md5sum of your download. Maybe re-install the demo.

Thanks. My computer isn't overclocked and have had no stability issues with anything else. However, the memtest86+ and prime95 can't hurt - haven't run either in about a year or so. Does md5sum work for steam downloads? I have aready done the steam validation.

The Steam validation is equivalent to the md5sum.

Go into the DragonAge II Demo file and click on the launcher that does not say Config. That should by pass the configuration utility. If you have another issue clicking tht file should tell you.

Well ... I tried that - there are 2 .exe files - DragonAge2Config and DragonAge2Demo. DragonAge2Demo brings up the launcher.; when I hit play I get the same message. It is not bypassing the configuration utility.
Since my initial message - I also tried prime95 (as suggested) - worked fine. Reinstalled twice. Played with my codec (disabled a few) - codecs have caused problems on other games. At one point I tried the old standby of changing stuff in the config file directly - that did not help either. Oh yes I did delete the .ini and had the demo recreate the file. Also, did some more microsoft patching.
[edit : rereading my message - just to make it clear - iDA II demo still doesn't work]

Somehow got the the demo to run (however, not the configuration utility) therefore it looks like ass. Plus I am having a number of issues mentioned in the forums in particular extended "Loading..." at odd times - but if I continue to play I will post in those threads.
I am not exactly sure what I did exactly to get it to run - but basically disabling all of the security features on this machine - services security center because of "window managment instrumentation" had been reported as causing problems, Kaspersky's, microsoft security essentials plus disabled some virtual disk stuff. I will post to this thread if I narrow down the exact trouble makers. My account was already an administrator account.
However, I did discover something alarming my "DA origins" config no longer works either. DA:O proper does still run. Interestingly enough I can configure Mass Effect within Mass Effect just fine - but if I use the launcher and then run config it breaks. They really need to learn how to catch exceptions and let us know exactly what its choking on. I am sure I had run the DA:O configuration when I first played it when it came out; I don't think I ever had to run the Mass Effect configuration - just configured it through the settings.

Couple of notes - I reversed all my changes and the demo still runs as long as run directly. I guess a bit got flipped and I can now run the Demo, but not the config or the demo from the launcher. I can also change the settings in the main menu so it runs pretty well.

I have exactky the same error as you. the config Utility stops working (in the demo and in the original game as well) right after i start it, while it trys to detect my system. DAO config utility is working fine, only the DA2 doesnt do what it is supposed to do.
I tried to start the game directly (steam ed) but i always end in the config

I get the same error message. I'd like to buy the game, but I won't if I can't even run the demo!

The graphics drivers from nVIDIA have been extremely problematic lately.

Yes, I see that version 267.24 is now in beta. The release notes say that this new version:

Just wondering if getting that beta driver fixed your issue? I had to replace my cd/dvd drive and am getting this same error.
