hahaha :)

I bet David is trying to relax us.

I'm an old****, and let me tell you, you are just as likely to read the truth as you are to read BS. Anything happens on 4chan. I'm not reading any of that. It IS spoilers.

Nah

Even in the 4chan boards, there were a few people who were  pointing out some serious contradictions in his story. And then the guy responded by basically saying "Oh no, they retconned that ****. That was just the legend. This is what ACTUALLY happened."

So yeah. Right now, I'm pretty comfortable with thinking that the dude is just an awesome fanfic writer.

I feel so sorry for the writing staff at Bioware. They have to look at that hilariously bad, garbage idea for a plot and see people thinking it superior to theirs. Poor David.

Or just do like they did before and crib from it and then use the names of forumers as characters in their games.

Notice how everyone in this thread pretty much says "BioWare isn't good enough to come up with that story", and yet the story that they're not good enough to come up with is essentially just a mass of critical-events with no reasoning behind them whatsoever?

I'd say that I'd prefer BioWare's story than the one there, because there'd be a clear line of how it got to that point, and there's lore to establish it.

BioWare doesn't suck in the story department.

I'd prefer a story revolving around the conflict of different planes (Fade, Black City), ancient enemies (Tevinter Imperium), and higher beings (Old Gods, Maker) than one revolving around a massive political dispute (Qunari attack) and having PC become champion by winning said dispute (Champion of Kirkwall).

Then again just my opinion and how I assume the game will turn out to be.

That reminds me - didn't one reviewer compare the story to Planescape: Torment?

If so, this "troll" is starting to sound a bit more believable.

Plus having a darkspawn companion is pure Bioware. C'mon guys. Think Legion.

Glad Gaider cleared it up, though

Please tell me the actual story is going to be better than this made-up 4chan one.

Gaider has to admit however, the story is pretty interesting!

What sounds like it might make for an interesting story isn't necessarily going to translate into a good story for a game. Just because someone can think of something that makes you go "oh, that's different!" doesn't mean it would work in practice.

Could work as fanfic, though, sure. What doesn't?

Vice versa, in my opinion.  A lot of what random wrote is only appealing because ideally we'd be playing that. If we weren't playing it, as a story it would just be a weak narrative.

This was some delicious writing. It was enjoyable, even with the plot-holes which could be easily remedied. Shame that we'll never play something on such a epic scale.

True... there are no spoilers here, but it's presented as if they are. Locking this down as misinformation.
