I'd say that I'd prefer BioWare's story than the one there, because there'd be a clear line of how it got to that point, and there's lore to establish it.
BioWare doesn't suck in the story department.

LOL, we already know they haven't made anyone as king/queen Canon. So this is just a Troll.
Again, making the huge assumption that he is telling the truth it could be as easy as him not paying attention and picking one of the defaults that has Alistair alive.
*assumption*
The parts that can't be assumed away are the vast lore discrepancies.

So m8, are you the one posting all this BS on 4Chan? because you're pushing hard for people to believe it could be true.

All im saying, is Hawke is possessed by something. Weve known that for a while, with the red eyes. This would explain that at least.
No we don't. It's called "Blood Magic." And that only happened in one trailer and whenever we see him portrayed as "mage" Hawke.
He's portrayed as something different everytime. The destiny trailer was just to show how mages have changed combat-wise from the first game. Blood magic is also a very popular spec among the fans so it would make sense they would use it as a marketing ploy.

I want it to be true, because those critical events are crazy. But you can read on many dragon age fan sites that some evidence points to Andraste being a blood mage herself.

"The letter that Flemeth gives to Hawke at the beginning of the game is actually blank--she was just trying to get him away from the Grey Wardens' path."
From the Demo we know Flemeth gives an amulet, not a letter.

Notice how everyone in this thread pretty much says "BioWare isn't good enough to come up with that story", and yet the story that they're not good enough to come up with is essentially just a mass of critical-events with no reasoning behind them whatsoever?

BioWare doesn't suck in the story department.
I'd prefer a story revolving around the conflict of different planes (Fade, Black City), ancient enemies (Tevinter Imperium), and higher beings (Old Gods, Maker) than one revolving around a massive political dispute (Qunari attack) and having PC become champion by winning said dispute (Champion of Kirkwall).
Then again just my opinion and how I assume the game will turn out to be.

Well, half the reason I'm bothering at all is because it amuses me. The other half is it might get people to focus on the other parts which aren't so easily explained - the parts my limited/basic knowledge of lore leave me ill equipped to counter and so I have to rely on others input.

Then I can see why you (probably) don't like DA2's story. I'm luck because I like both types of story.
I hope you can find a game with the type of story you want.

Except another site, possibly a reviewer, who had played the game verified that Flemeth gives Hawke an amulet and the ritual that it's used for is the catalyst for a large plot twist.
