But those are not story driven games.

That said, playthrough time is an entirely pointless statistic unless you're comparing the same person's playthrough on two games and have access to knowledge such as 'did this person complete side quests' and 'did this person not skip dialogue'.

And I want to see it rated below 80/100, 8/10 or 4/5 before I call it a bad game. Every reviewer so far says it is a good game.aksoileau wrote...
It's just 1 review, and an 87 isn't bad. DAO on consoles averaged scores in the mid 80s...

I hope they are wrong about the characters, though.

And you have faster combat, so I guess we only 'lose' the rather annoying parts. Right?JohnEpler wrote...
For what it's worth, my DA2 playthrough was almost exactly as long as my Origins playthrough. Not saying this is a typical experience, but I didn't feel DA2 was significantly shorter than Origins.

A lot of reviewers have that problem where they front load the criticism, and dont leave much space for the positives.Ploppy wrote...
After closely reading the test, I'd say that any contradictions between the text summary and the final scoring are Gamestar's fault. They spend most of the article pointing out DA2's faults (and they find a lot of them) and save most of the positive notes for the ratings box.

Same will happen with DA2. All of the complaints going on right now about Dragon Age were the same complaints before ME2 dropped.

PC Games, the other big German magazine was at 48 with sidequests.
And sure shorter lenght can mean flatter characters, this was the problem with Awakening.
Reading the text was surprised by the high % score of both.

What the heck is "epicness"? Are they seriously complaining that you don't save the world and get the girl or some other nonsense? I'm sick of that game. The way they've touted the story from the beginning, it was supposed to be a setup story, a transition from Origins to a yet-to-come "big conflict", perhaps.
Not epic maybe but cliffhanger is written all over the place.

I love cliffies. The nerdrage they generate is just so freakin' awesome.

They are complaining that there are no epic scenes like Ostagar or the final battle and the game is limited to one city.
Seriously.

Agreed.
Further more I believe this reviewer needs to learn how to write reviews.
Most
of the article is him/her talking about Dragon Age II without talking
about Dragon Age II. Ether ****ing about EA, or restating things we ALREADY know.
And to the 12-15 hour play time, how
did they play it ? On Casual, and do nothing? You could run through Origins main plot in
12- 15 hours on Casual, if you skipped everything other than the main quest. Hell you could Play Masseffect one and 2 in about 8 hours each if you did that.
And like I've said a million times graphics don't matter. Coming form the 8 bit era of gaming I could care less about how a game looks. Too often do developers substitute eye candy for for substance. I've played Mass effect 2, I've seen what they can do with top of the line textures and bitmaping etc. And I have NO reason to believe that the look of the game is nothing more than an artistic view of the world, could they have made it look like the Destiny trailer, I have no doubt. However too often do we have games like Crysis 2 and COD and what ever, that trade "photo realistic" graphics, for any artistic soul it could have had.
I do have my complainants about Dragon Age II's look however I can feel the work that went into creating the world.
I'm really not worried.

if you listened to everything and took the quests nearby you could go about 30 hours even on easy.JrayM16 wrote...
Emphasis on "Take your time and explore everything the game has to offer."
Without that, Even Origins could be completed in minimal time.

Yes, because the opinion I'm spouting on a forum would be as polished as something I'm writing professionally.

I say put in an hour and 30 mins for the deep roads, an hour to do everything to set up the kind meeting, and then another 40 mins to an hour to do the last part of the game?
You're looking at roughly 10-11 hours to complete only the main missions to beat the game.
12-15 hours for only the main mission is not really that bad at all.
