A political plot can be good anyway because one only needs look at Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire.
So you are saying we'll finally get the answers to why Hawke is so important, in a DLC that may or may not be released in 2035?

Yeah that's why it got a good rating, because it sucked.Beaner28 wrote...

Same here. Origins' story is more or less Lord of the Rings, but how it was presented and the RPG immersion of the game was what made it fantastic.LumpOfCole wrote...
Am I the only one that finds the struggle between the Mages and the Chantry as something better than a horde of zombie creatures versus righteous protectors of civilization? There is a lot more depth and humanity in the struggle between those with magic abilities and those who seek to regulate them.
I was thrilled when I found out DA2 was moving away from the Blight and focusing on the struggle between the Circle and the Chantry as the backdrop of a refugee's rise to power. But worries me most is that BioWare *may* have dropped the ball on this one with the short development time of the game, which means the game itself has to be shorter and in turn won't feel as epic as it could be had they taken more time in its development.

And I want to see it rated below 80/100, 8/10 or 4/5 before I call it a bad game. Every reviewer so far says it is a good game.aksoileau wrote...
It's just 1 review, and an 87 isn't bad. DAO on consoles averaged scores in the mid 80s...
They are very conservative with ratings, they almost *never* hand out ratings above 90%. ME2 got 88% from them, DA:O 92% and even classics like Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 got 89% and 88% respectively.
If you consider that, the DA2 review pretty much says that it's not quite as good as DA1, but still pretty much one of the top games.
Y'know, just because most gaming reviews hand out 5/5s, 10/10s etc. out like candy, it doesn't mean every single last of them does...

For what it's worth, my DA2 playthrough was almost exactly as long as my Origins playthrough. Not saying this is a typical experience, but I didn't feel DA2 was significantly shorter than Origins.
That said, playthrough time is an entirely pointless statistic unless you're comparing the same person's playthrough on two games and have access to knowledge such as 'did this person complete side quests' and 'did this person not skip dialogue'.
Thats just teasing!
How long was your DAO playthrough M.Epler?

I wish bioware would just take 3 or 4 years to make dragon age 3 since da1 was a 3 or 4 year game it took long time to make and it shows that it was given more time and care than dragon age 2.

Ya but he said only double if you do all side quests and so on thats 30 hours vs origins being over 100.Cyakura wrote...
12- 15 hrs is exactly like origins. Nothing new there. If you play DAO just the main quests, especially after going tru the game the first time, you can easily finish the main line in that time. I am very optimistic and kinda have a gut feeling that there will be tons of side quests and even maybe side quests to the main story line. So I would not be worried abt the 12-15hrs at all.
Its shows origins was 3 or 4 years in devloperment it even has better graphics than dragon age 2 at least for me i like old style.
You can tell dragon age 2 is a 2 year rush job to make money.

Actually you can finish Fallout New Vegas in around 90 minutes.I did it with a tutorial from gamefaqs.
Though that's a game i put + 100 hours in, without doing everything, on my first save.
If you rush a game and ignore most of it you get ridiculous time. I would say that even 10 hours is good for a rush through.

First playthrough? Fifty three hours and change.
I tend to take my time to a degree, though I'll admit that in DA2, I did a little dialogue skipping on the stuff I worked on. You can only see your own work so many times before you start to criticize every tiny detail that no one will ever notice 'Oh, that animation blended poorly for one frame! My life's work is ruined!'
And in DA:O, I did tend to skip a few dialogues because I'd seen them before while doing QA on the project.

Spending 100 hours on dragon age is absurd, there is nothing in the game that would require anywhere near that much time to complete.xnoxiousx wrote...

Origins only take a hundred hours when you leave the game paused for an excessive amount of time. (Not worth debating the rest of your very biased opinion.)

We knew it was going to be short. Not only does it have a voiced protagonist, but we're getting PR about how people wanted it to be that way. Short was a given. I'm way more disappointed that the Alistair cameo is only 1 to 2 minutes long and inconsequential. I was really hopping for some significant interaction--maybe a short quest.
Considering the speed in which they shot through the demo, I'm not inclined to trust their numbers put in.

And so, I will state that Dragon Age 2 will probably take an average of 40 hours provided you miss a few things (as everyone usually does their first time) and what not and depending on difficulty and class.
