 i lost my reply.

DAO fastest playthrough 13 hours (with a stealthing leliana and a human mage warden)

normal playthroughs:  30 hours,

longest (did all quests, looted everything, spoke to everyone who exists and levelled up to 24 before the landsmeet) was i think 56 hours?

Looks like it's going to be a disappointment to all but those want DA2 to be like ME with crappy graphics.

How long did it take them to play DAO's mainquest? All the content?
How about ME1-2?
Self-reported playthrough hours need context as they are highly subjective and reliant on a number of factors. In isolation they are so wildly inconsistent as to be useless.

This.

someone asked the question and the answer was that the reviewrs finished DAO in 30~40 hours

Another review said it took 50. Sidequests too, but he said there really wasn't a whole lot.

Were they expecting Alistair to join the party??? Bioware always does short cameos for fan favorites.

- Hawke has up to 9 companions, who generally feel alive and responsive. However, they have consistently
less depth and weaker characterization than the cast in Origins. The only exception is Varric, whose frequent banter with Cassandra provides  much of the game's tension and humour. He's described as "a d*mn cool sock" (don't ask)

They rushed the game, right? So here's to hoping that the characters only feel like that because they skipped their quests :(

Hell you can beat Origins in about that long if you blow through it. Mass Effect 1/2, Oblivion, are all about 12-15 hours if you hate fun.

I'd rather 12 hours of a great experience, than say 30 of a mostly so-so experience. DA:O was like the latter in many ways.

Am I the only one that finds the struggle between the Mages and the Chantry as something better than a horde of zombie creatures versus righteous protectors of civilization? There is a lot more depth and humanity in the struggle between those with magic abilities and those who seek to regulate them.

DA:A: 15 hours

not surprised at length since you can complete origins in a similar time just doing the main quest on normal. i did.

Sounds worrying overall with what they say, although I no longer take game magazine reviews particularly seriously, not after GTA4 was given 10/10.

I beat Origins in 14 hours on my 'evil' playthrough. I purposefully neglected to do some sidemissions, but some were done.

I am kind of worried about character development now.

Seriously ?

I see a snowjob in the works.

Or an attempt at argumentative reasoning.

THere are multiple factors in my opinion which affect playlength.  I will use DA:O as my example:

1. Side-quests:  These can take so much time if all are done that a game playthrough could be cut down by more than 1/3 if side-quests are not done.

2.  Skipping through VO: A lot of people do this and those minutes add up.

3. Platform: I have a theory that PC takes longer to beat because PC offers more tactical options to pause and micro-manage.

And so on.

Some of the review is depressing. (To me) We'll see soon enough. Thanks for posting.

It's everything i found wrong in the demo confirmd to be in the full game.

I don't understand how the score is that high. Maybe poster only made bad stuff from review in the post?

Even if that is the case that much bad stuff should not be an 87. If it was anyone but Bioware and EA I bet it would be a lot lower.

Very short development time i do not know why. DA:O is their best selling game ever.

They ruined their best selling franchise. I'm not saying the game is bad, but if they lowered the quality and the name of DA:O which was a prime game

The review make it sound like an average game at best.I'm definitively waiting for the ultimate edition coming next year.

No way I'm paying full price when I can get The Witcher 2 15$ cheaper in 2 months.

ME2's average playtime being higher than DA:O by ten hours? Hahahaha. There is no way I can trust that site's time judgments now.

Emphasis on "Take your time and explore everything the game has to offer."

Without that, Even Origins could be completed in minimal time.

If I rush through Origins, it's going to take me at least 20 hours. If I play what is in essence a normal game (no compulsive exploring) it takes me 30-40 hours. If I play with exploring in mind, it takes me 60-75 hours.

I think we have to face facts. The game is shorter simply because Bioware spent far less time making it and realize that they can get more profit and not work as hard through releasing DLCs.
