How long is ME2's main quest? 6 hours?

Depends my first playthru was 28 hours and I skipped alot.

The reviewer rushed thru the game. sad but good reviewers are hard to find.

12-15 hours is pretty decent length for the main storyline, besides the review doesn't state whether they skipped dialogue or videos, so can't be completely sure till the game comes out. I did Origins in 17 hours with a duel-wielding rogue, so not too much difference. First playthrough of origins with everything was 46hours, im hoping this is atleast 30hours.

Just hope the side quests resulted in what they stated a while ago, about them changing in circumstances and such.

Some other tidbits from the popular German pc-magazine (minor spoilers), copied from elsewhere:

- Hawke has up to 9 companions, who generally feel alive and responsive. However, they have consistently less depth and weaker characterization than the cast in Origins. The only exception is Varric, whose frequent banter with Cassandra provides much of the game's tension and humour. He's described as "a d*mn cool sock" (don't ask)

Out of everything that was written there, this one bit struck me with "oh, s**t... ME2 all over again".

To clarify, that was the one bit I didn't like in ME2. Companions felt empty and void compared to ME1. I thought this was because two of them you already 'knew' and there were more all-around, so less funds individually.

Initially I had hoped there would be less companions to make up for the short development cycle of DA2, and to ensure depth and personality. To read something like this is... not cool.

Still *sigh*, it's one reviewer's opinion, I'll just have to wait patiently for others'. Or I'll just find out when I'll play the game... :(

It would be a shame if all the months of posting for all of us resulted in a game that we wouold beat in one day and had no replay value

We have someone in the office who can make it through BG2 in about 5 hours, sans cheats. How? I have no idea.

I tried this as soon as I read it, if only to have something I can do just as well as someone in Bioware. And failed, I hit seven hours, but I did manage to get Crom Faeyr and Carsomyr in that time. Oh, and I had ease-of-use installed, so basically it wouldn't count anyway. I'll leave it to the pro's.

But anyway, it wasn't the same experience, skipping through dialogue and just knowing what numbers gave the quickest route to ending conversations.. speed runs, unless you're playing Mario World or something similar, just won't do it. Especially not for RPG's.

I can't say I've ever understood some folks' obsession with speed runs...

I have no intention of reading the whole 20 pages, but here's something to consider.

Everyone here who claims that DA:O can be finished in this little time also, is forgetting that even if it can be done by them, they can do it being very experienced with the game. I've played through DA:O+A 5 times, with 3 of them in the last couple of months, so while I have less experience with the game than some, I also have more than many others. The point I am trying to make is this: There is no way to finish DA:O in anything close to 15 hours on your *first* playthrough. The fact that the reviewer did that is a very telling piece of info about DA2.

'Nuff said.

I think this is the Average gamer quest time,

Origins took me 23
ME2 took me 13

No way near my playtimes for those games.
Origins: 59 hours
ME2: 35 hours

I took my time, did most quests, but not all of them, played on normal on both games.

Speedruns for those games:
Origins: about 33 hours
ME2: 22 hours

Thinking that some of you guys will be really disappointed in the length of this game. Seeing as you can finish DA:O in such short time.

I played ME2 for 30-35 hours and my Origins playthrough was 35-40 hours. I expect to I'll have a satisfying and time-consuming playthrough of DA2. :)

That's after how many playthroughs? Try finishing in that time if you are playing for the 1st time.

Apples and oranges.

My 1st ME2 playthrough was 35 hours, all the others were 23-24 hours. ehh how would that translate for DA2?

About the same maybe a bit less judging from whats been said in various places 30 hours doing everything. PC seems to be a bit longer, maybe because they seem to pause a lot more, that can really add up over time.

It kinda does. Saren was the only thing that saved ME1 and there is apparently on antagonist of that type in DA2.
