It was just a trailer. Nobody said that ANY of the game would take place in London. they just wanted to use an iconic location such as Big Ben to make it clear to viewers of the trailer that the reapers were attacking Earth. NOTHING has even been confirmed yet.

you know maybe the reapers attack london first because in the mass effect world they could have the most populated people, basicly the reapers could do a strategic attack on the human world by aiming at a country thats very populated

The fact is the rest of the world is already dead and the only reason the UK is surviving is because of the SAS.

Seriously though, I fail to see why there is all this hate. Alot of real world games take place in the US or use characters of US origin so I think it's about time other countries get recognition. London itself was used because Big Ben is one of the most easily recognised monuments in the world and as has been said, nothing has been confirmed in terms of location.

I'd personally like to see something near the Kremlin or even the giant statue of Jesus in Rio De Janeiro. Get some free publicity (albeit rage filled from the Christian community) by giving the option whether or not to save the statue.

I'm happy they picked London and I don't even live there. Their are few cities I could remember from one building and one of those cities is London. I liked seeing Big Ben. I was hoping I could watch it get blown up or something.

I'd assumed that the choice of London was because it gives the opportunity for a cute referendce / gag to the original War of the Worlds. The Reapers certainly visually echo the Tripods in the trailer.

Anyways London is cool and Americans/Canadians speak English, so it works. Otherwise we have to endure a bunch of likely very poorly imitated accents of other countries. Such as *Hic* I am drunk Russian guy speaking with gravel voice. Oh look Reapers are attacking my city. Wait where is my Vodka?!" It's best if we just not. Maybe the Reapers are attacking the U.K. first cause they like/don't like the Beatles? Maybe they think Harry Potter is there? Any reason is as good as another.

Because most of our wildlife would kill the Reapers dead before they had a chance to lay waste to the coutryside.
And if not the wildlife, then they would be brought down by a hail of tinnies*, to the cry of "'Ava go ya mug!"
